I used to have spotify premium but then I cancelled it. Honestly, yeah it's easier to pay 10 bucks a month but it's also not that hard to get music for free as long as you give a little effort. I also buy CDs / Vinyl / tapes. Sucks to use it when you don't have WiFi around, also not all bands are on spotify.

I've pirated all of my music since the early 2000s but I recently started paying for spotify premium. I have an old grandfathered unlimited data plan so no issue there. It's shown me a few new artists which is cool but the playlists are lackluster. I'm also surprised at just what isn't on there and what is... No King Crimson but they have all the old EPs from Charizma and PB Wolf, some of which I didn't even know existed.

I honestly don't know if it's worth it but since I'm not a poor piece of shit on neetbux, I don't even feel $120 a year anyway

Spotify is good if what you want to listen to is on there, it needs a larger selection though. Its also absolutely disgusting how they have covers of songs but not the original.

Overall 7/10, it would be an easy 9/10 if you could put youtube links into your playlists and play just the audio from those. I cant even see google having a problem with that since they'd still be getting revenue (just put a little "spotify is not responsible for third party ads" or something like that).

It would be nice if the whole streaming industry as a whole worked together a little bit and were a little more congruent amongst themselves, but maybe Im dreaming too much. Everything is way to fragmented and split up, I shouldn't have to use different services to hear specific artists, or those services shouldn't be able to use popular artists to blackmail us into using them
>>

Spotify is too greedy and full of ads these days. It's not even available in my country, I had to use proxies just to be able to try out the free version. The whole thing is so stupid. They say they need an office in my country to make the service available. Rly? How do other companies sell services without having an office here? Of course it works well in Germany. Spotify is made in the feminist Muslim-infested cesspool called Sweden. You guys have something in common: you're working hard to make sure your Syrians are comfy, and they can listen to Spotify while wearing their designer jeans and nikes.

Poor fellas... living in such squallor on your taxes. Your taxes are well-invested in their Spotify accounts. ;^)

aaaaaaaaaaaand that's why I pirate. Why would I waste $120 a year on something I can get in higher quality (flac) for free? Not to mention what happens if spotify goes out of business or loses access to the music I want? I keep paying to risk losing everything? Fucking lol.

Anybody paying for spotify is a cuck.
>>
0 bucks a month vs 10 bucks a month. Hmmm, I wonder which is better...
>>
>>51920863
Well you won't actually lose it since with spotify it's not yours to begin with. Basically you're renting the music
>>

GARBAGE QUALITY

>>51914163
Spotify us great for discovering music at high quality. There aren't slow downs on the streams or broken links. I'd something isn't available on Spotify, you can sync your local mp3 does online to your Spotify account. Works great for me.
>>
>>51921015
I meant the android version. but didn't knew about that part of the web player.
>>
>>51914876
No it's synced online along with any music files you add to your playlist. What do you think people pay for? No ads only?
>>
>>51921076
And if you stop paying for it does it lock you out of that downloaded music? I'm assuming theres some kind of DRM on it.
>>
I have discovered a ton of new artists by just listeningto one of the genre streams there. currently im listening to the top 150 black metal albums as voted by metal archive. torrenting them all together would take me ages and fuck with my ratio on what.cd massively
>>
>he doesn't use what.cd
>>
>>51921157
what.cd is not a music torrent site, its a trading simulation with upload ratio as the reward and music files as the commodity. the only time someone cares about music there is when a freeleech comes around
>>
>>51921193
Lol this guy
>>
>>51921113
Yep, I had a free trial for 3 months and they're 3 months for the price of 1 deal going on now. I have a 6 hour playlist of just kickass music and it would take way too long to download and organise everything. I have over 400 songs saved in total, most of them are singles from different artists so it's not as easy as just downloading whole albums.

Also, my carrier pays for my spotify subscription for 2 years. Fido is freaking awesome. I don't pay a penny for it.

>ad hominems

Not GP, but you're retarded.

You appear to be implying that GP's statements or argument are invalid due to "ad hominems". An argument is only invalid if it is built upon the ad hominem.

You might say, "I like Windows 10". I would then say, "well you're a fucking idiot, so you're wrong." This is an invalid argument, since it depends upon you being an idiot.

On the other hand, if you say, "I like Windows 10" and someone else says, "Windows 10 is an ugly piece of invasive shit, and you're a fucking idiot" then it's an insult, but it in no way invalidates the argument.

One has to assume that since you used the phrase "ad hominem", you think it's a case of the former, but all I see is a case of the latter. Retard.
>>

>>
>>51926308
> >what should I listen to?

But how do you know what you want to listen to if you don't already have it in your collection?

Streaming is okay for discovering new music, but that's about it.

Uh. Okay. I have enough music downloaded to keep me busy for years. Also, half the time I have a shitty signal, so I don't understand this whole streaming trend. Also, quality.
>>
because already existing music collection.
because bandcamp.
because *insert choice free radio app*.
because physical media.

why would i pay for something that is already available with no extra effort?
>>
>>51926350
I just like listening to more than the same 10 bands
I have 4G LTE everywhere I go since I don't live in the middle of nowhere and save Spotify offline anyways
And anything over 320kbps is a meme and waste of storage space or bandwidth for purposes other than archival, like listening
>>
>>51926377
>I just like listening to more than the same 10 bands

Not only is your music collection small, your *concept* of a music collection is small.

>I have 4G LTE everywhere I go since I don't live in the middle of nowhere

I don't live anywhere near the middle of nowhere.

>And anything over 320kbps is a meme and waste

Spotify's default is 160 kbps. High quality is 320, which is decent. But is their rip quality good? Amazon used to rip discs and fucked them up all the time.
>>
>>51914112
It's annoying that I can't find much FLACs of modern music, it is usually animu or vidya OSTs.

>>

computer files are material

if you took apart your hard disk, you would be easily able to identify the places where there is data on and where not
>>
I'll never understand why people use stuff like spotify
Why not simply buy the album you like and listen to ur music offline what the duck
Why making that shit complicated instead of simlpy downloading/buying the music
>>
>>51928381
but anon, spotify IS more simple than buying every album.
if you buy spotify premium, you get a music flatrate for 10 moneys, so you can listen to every album you feel like that is on there.
you save a massive amount of money
>>
I can't tell who is the biggest jew, the ones trying to sell me spotify premium or those who think $10/month is too expensive
>>
I don't pay for music because I was alive and on the internet in 1999 when that became a thing of the past.

You can't unring a bell.

Because Bandcamp is better.
