Hello 4chan, I was getting into the pc world and this Christmas I'm planning on getting myself a Pc fit for gaming, maybe not 4k 160Fps, but a Bang For your buck pc, preferably a built one but if you can make a one on Pcbuilder is fine.

drop the hyper212, you don't need it, that processor can't even overclock

use the money saved to get a better graphics card.

In fact, drop the skylake i3, get a broadwell i3 and broadwell motherboard, use the money saved to get an even better GPU like an AMD 380 or nvidia 960 and 970`

Don't look on 4chan. All you're going to get is fags saying "hur durr get amd not nvidia hur due 3.5 GB vram muh $700? Uhh no 2015". Try linustechtips, tomshardware forums, or /buildapcforme on reddit.

it can be via blck. skylake is extremely good at overclock with the blck now. intel is allowing manufacturers to allow blck overclocking on non k processors.

so wait what overclocking is this on non-K CPU's?

Is it overclocking the multiplier or the base frequency?

If its overclocking the multiplier thats fine, but if its the base clock thats bad
>>
>>51906790
the base and its not bad. intel increased the amount you can overclock the bclk by. now its safe to go above 100mhz. most hit 120 - 130mhz just fine.

>The base clock has always been ‘open’, however in Sandy Bridge, Ivy Bridge and Haswell it has been linked to other parts of the system, such as the storage or the PCIe, meaning that any overclocking beyond 103-105 MHz led to other issues such as signal degradation or data loss. The Skylake platform changes this – as we noted back in our initial Skylake launch details, the chipset and PCIe now have their own clock domains, meaning that the base frequency only affects the CPU (core, uncore, cache), integrated graphics and DRAM.

what's the consensus on the MasterCooler pro 5 case?
>>
>>51907135
If you spend >100 bucks on a CM case, you need to not do that.

Thanks for the heads up
any recommendations? Have to fit an Evo 212 and (possibly) a r9 390
>>
You can fit a 390 in the budget if you go slightly over, but if you seriously need it under $700, here you go.

Corsair 500R fits everything nicely. I love mine.

Hey /g/ I planned on doing this build with 800 bucks tops, but I exceeded my budget by 200 dollars, could you help me cut the needless things to make it a good 800 dollar build?

I seriously do not understand why /g/ is so fucking terrible at making builds. Even fucking /r/pcmustardrice makes better builds.

1. Don't spend almost as much on the mobo as you do on the CPU. Ever. Unless it's SFF where options are limited. Get a fucking H110 or a B150. MicroATX.

2. I don't give a shit about BCLK overclocking; you shouldn't be overclocking i3s. Waste of money. By extension, don't put an aftermarket cooler on an i3.

3. Did you just spec 8GB of DDR4 that costs $58? You can get 8GB DDR4 for $40. $40. Sort by lowest price for god's sake.

4. Stop getting memed. Samsung EVO drives and WD HDDs are not worth the price over an Adata SP550 and a Seagate Barracuda, especially not on a tight budget.

5. You're also spending far too much on the case an power supply. Don't do that.

Samefag; clarifying something.

>5. You're also spending far too much on the case an power supply. Don't do that.

You weren't spending too much for that budget; you were spending too much for those specs.

If your budget is up to 800, go with this:

Logical Increments is shit.

For instance, let's take a look at the "excellent" build.

* GTX 970
* i5-4460
* 212 Evo
* Gigabyte Z97X-UDH3
* 8 GB RAM
* 1 TB HDD
* 120 GB SSD
* Seasonic M12 620
* Phanteks Enthoo Pro

Issues:

* A Z97 board is a waste of money on a locked CPU.
* An aftermarket cooler is also a waste of money on a locked CPU.
* Overkill 620W PSU on a PC that only uses 330W.
* Fucking $90 case; completely unnecessary.

They apparently get a hard-on by scaling things up with each increment even when they don't need to be fucking scaled up.
