I would like to continue the discussion on why this gaming laptop is a bad deal compared to a desktop.
Specs:
$800
Intel Core i7 Haswell 4710HQ
16Gb 1600MHz LPDDR3
Nvidia GTX 860M/960M 4Gb
512Gb Crucial SSD
3840x2160 IPS display
>>51905809
gaming pc + x220 combo master race.
The 860M/960M is complete shit.
>>51905864
Relative to what exactly?
Hey guys I've come up with my first computer build http://pcpartpicker.com/p/7hVPwP
Any thoughts. Anything helps my budget is $850
>>51905941
I fixed that already. Stop spamming it.
How much is gayman laptop and I will make a pc part picker of better desktop
How >>51905992
I put the price in OP.
How >>51906055
What laptop can run any game for $800
>>51905809
Why are gaming laptops always designed like this? I just want a standard looking laptop with a good gpu
>>51906080
The one I provided lol. It is a Y50 UHD.
>>51906101
This. They always look like shit, and almost always have a shit build quality.
You have to go with something like Digital Storm if you don't want the exterior falling apart after a year.
>>51905809
and I bet it weighs 6-7lbs
It's a good deal 2bh, if you feel like it, buy it.
Gaming laptops are retarded though, mobile components are below par compared to its desktop counterparts, mobos are shit, and battery life is null which kinda defeats the purpose of a laptop. Unless we're talking about those $3k monstrosities.
>>51906145
I don't know how much it weighs. Its a bit heavy. It's 15.6" and half an inch thick.
>>51906153
I have it. This is a continuation of a thread saying I got a bad deal.
For $800 I don't see how a desktop would be any better.
>>51906167
All I want in this world is a quad-core processor, 12-16GB of ram, PCIE SSD 128GB+ and a 1920x1080p screen at under 4lbs and i would be very happy.
And no thermal throttling out the ass would be great
>>51906185
It wouldn't be, /g/ just hates gaming laptops because reasons.
>>51906188
This one has no throttling issues at all. At the worst the i7 just runs at base clocks with all 8 threads maxed out.
>>51906118
Hoe much does it cost
>>51906242
$800, as stated I'm the OP lol.
>lenovo laptop sale
>ends tonight
>only see it now
well fuck me
>>51906284
In the op*>>51906289
I got mine off newegg. It was a refurb. It came in perfect condition and works flawlessly. Make sure you get the 4Gb 860M instead of the 2Gb, the 2Gb one is Keplar based.
>>51906145
bet it lasts ~2 hours on battery too
The price seems like a real steal, OP should sell it for a profit and get an actual desktop PC.
>>51906185
15.6"? That's not so bad.
The thing with 17's is they're so bulky that you never want to take them anywhere, and at that point, why did you get a laptop?
A 15.6" gaming laptop still has the problems of being a little heavier with much shorter run times, but at least it makes a little more sense. I'd still avoid it because I wouldn't want to carry anything around with me that I couldn't afford to lose or break. Nice things are not always the best thing for daily life. It's a case of, "Do you own your stuff or does your stuff own you?" I'd worry about a bag with $800 in it, and that's mental overhead I don't need.
Not my cup of tea. If I needed gaming + portability I'd go with a desktop and a cheap laptop. Since I don't need portable computing, that would explain why I don't have a laptop.
Anon from the other night here.
Here's an equivalent hardware parts list: http://pcpartpicker.com/p/JWXtvK
For the price, the laptop is very good. Some things can't quite compare though. A desktop CPU will always outperform a laptop CPU. The max clock of the y50 i7 is 2.7ghz if I remember correctly while a stock haswell i7 does at least 3.4ghz. While it does have good hardware for a laptop, it's a terrible laptop if we're judging it by those standards.
>>51905809
nvidia's mobile graphic cards are generally pretty bad, just read the benchmarks
>>51905809
DO NOT GET THIS
I don't care how good the price is. The hinge will break after about a year.
>>51905901
Not him but if you are going for gaming, then buy 970m or up, 960m or less are alot less powerfull
