Macrumors has these listed as "Don't Buy - Updates Soon".

I want to get one but how soon is soon exactly? WDCC is around June, right?

How much more expensive are the newer models likely to be?
>>
>>51895805
>How much more expensive are the newer models likely to be?

doesn't really matter much as the prices rose beyond the line of reasonability years ago and if you're still buying mac products now i don't think a price hike is going to make you stop because you're a retarded consumerist easily swindled by marketing

I don't think much has happened since the Retina screens were installed on the macbook pro.
The new model will probably feature a stunning 2% more performance and even 10 minutes more battery.
>>
>>51895805
>How much more expensive are the newer models likely to be?
0$.

Here's the Apple pricing model:
Macbook costs X when released.
It costs X until the new model is released around a year later, no discounts or anything to get rid of stock.
When the new model is released, it costs X. The old models is withdrawn and stops being available, again no discounts for "prev gen" or anything.

Historically, the price of each generation of Macbooks has stayed the same or slightly fallen with every release. The only time there was a rise, was when the 15 retina was introduced. That's it.

Also, retards like him >>51895865 are too underage v& to remember mac prices in the PPC or early Intel era.
Truth is, Mac nowadays are more have affordable than they have ever been in their history.

It's up to *you* whether they're affordable enough *for you*
>>
>>51896160
Don't Macbooks steadily rise in prices with every release?

WWDC is the apple developer conference, there most probably won't be any new announcements for devices. Your best bet is probably the iPad Air event (pic related), but there's no proper date yet.

As other's have pointed out, do not buy apple products right before those events, as you can a price drop shortly after and get better the better model for a comparable price.
>>
>>51895805
You should wait until the new models are released for the best shit-eating experience possible.
>>
Wow, the hate is really strong in this thread.

I suppose they will be rolling out new models with Skylakes in the first quarter of 2016. I would probably wait for those if I were you. On the other hand, I'm using my early 2013 15" rMBP and this is still by far the best laptop I have ever used and I haven't even thought about buying a new one any time soon, so if you bought one now, you would be happy with it for years to come.
>>
Base 15" rMBP is not worth it ever since they released it without a dGPU. I own the 2012 model, it breaks all the time (screen thrice, fans 2 times each, logic board, etc) but Apple is good about the warranty and has replaced everything without fuss.

It reaches 104C when compiling anything and sounds like it's trying to take off. The fans are inaudible most of the time though.

It's shit, never buying another. You may like it though.

Premium software? You mean like how the release of Yosemite included a brand new networking daemon that sucked so hard, it would drop wifi connection multiple times an hour even if you were in the same room as your router? And how Apple publicly ignored this problem for almost an entire year, saying that there were no networking issues in Yosemite, until silently replacing the "new and improved" discoveryd with the old mDNSresponder in one of their 10.10.x releases? Oh yeah, that's the action of a company that really cares about delivering premium software.

Or how about hardware, where they botched the thermal management for early 2011 Macbook Pros so badly that their GPUs started flaking out almost immediately, and then refusing to fix the GPU if you did something like, oh, I don't know, upgrading your RAM?

Tell me, would a company that cares about premium hardware and software act like this? No, it wouldn't.

Yes, I once fell for the Apple faggotry. Never fucking again. I have to agree with >>51895902

RTFM. If you damage the product while upgrading the memory or hard drive yourself, the damage is not covered by your warranty. However, upgrading the memory or the hard drive does not void your warranty.

Stuff like that happens. Yes, Yosemite was an exceptionally bad update, but there's usually much bigger amount of issues with devices and software of other manufacturers, issues with apple products just get much more publicity cause its Apple and there is heaps of autists that don't have anything better to do than point it out. I personally haven't witnessed the disconnection issue for more than one or two times in the whole year I've been using Yosemite, desu.

I've been using Macbooks for over 6 years and I will probably buy one again since there's simply not a single other manufacturer that sells laptop that are not shit-tier. Laptop manufacturers just don't get it right, they include shitty trackpads, shitty screens, move keys into weird places, ship with bloatware or broken drivers. You have to be really lucky to get a windows laptop without tons of issues like that.

With Apple you pay maybe 100 or 200€ extra (its not much more than that, go ahead and check it), but at least you know that they usually deliver good devices where issues like that are rather the exception and if there really is an issue you can be sure to know it soon enough beforehand cause everyone will be talking about it.

Microsoft keeps fucking up the software too, every Major release changes the whole UI for no fucking reason, moves settings around, forces you to use touch interfaces or other new shit for no fucking reason.

>>
>>51897419
>issues with apple products just get much more publicity cause its Apple and there is heaps of autists that don't have anything better to do than point it out.

It gets pointed out because these are overpriced machines being billed as the be-all end-all of laptops, the absolute pinnacle of software and hardware design, that breeds a cult of insufferable retards who eagerly defend a company that wouldn't defend them back or even acknowledge issues with their product when they occur. You are a giant tool trying to justify your weird consumerist cult.

God, why is /g/ so fucking shit?

As an industry level designer and engineer (but above all, a businessman), the idea that Macs are "overpriced garbage" and "shit" is so ridiculous to me that I can't even take it seriously.

If you want to develop iOS apps, you need a Mac. Or a Hackintosh, but they're unreliable and can break after every other update. It also is the only UNIX-based OS in the world that companies actively support consumers on.

"muh Linux" fuck off, lol. Linux as a desktop is terrible for any reasonable consumer with more to do in a high-level industry (not working at fucking Waitrose) than dwell in his bedroom and wank into a sock 6 times a day.

"b-but you bought into consumerism"

Welcome to the real world. The world is consumerist. That means applications, games, and business (if you have any real ambition in life rather than being Richard Stallman 2.0 which I'd hardly call ambition) relies on OSes such as Windows and OS X (especially OS X if you don't want to be riddled with viruses 5 times a second), especially like I said mobile application companies.

tl;dr have the moral high ground and "muh bleeding edge" or "APPLE IS OVERPRIIICED" all you like, but you're still going to die alone.

The early Apple store employees were pretty smart. But I went in a week before Christmas to buy my folks a Macbook Air as a gift. I wanted to ask the Apple Store dude about using the Air in clamshell mode.

>Me: "So will using it closed like that cause any heat damage."
>Apple store dude: "You can't use it closed, it'll go to sleep"

I've used Linux to launch research rockets. To analyze data from those rockets. To develop predictive models from that data.

How about that for a high level industry? Literally rocket science.
