Would you be interested in MPV with a full blown GUI?
I created a menus that basically act as scripts and do CLI calls.

vanilla mpv has everything you need, and setting it up is as simple as pasting options from the manual into notepad.

Why not though? It's just a video player, nothing to be elitist about. I love mpv, but I think some of its potential is lost because there are no good GUI frontends. Given a good frontend, it might even have the potential to overtake VLC as the normie player of choice.

Baka-mplayer and smplayer both support mpv.
They're both perfectly adequate.
