Hey /g/,
I just got a job as a System Admin at my university, and my job basically consists of deploying software to the Windows computers. The problem is, however, I feel that I am very unqualified at this job and I need some resources.
So if anyone knows anything about resources for App-V, XenApp, SCCM, Active Directory, Group Policy, etc. then please send them my way.
Otherwise, lets talk about how you guys are enjoying your jobs as Sysadmins.
Sysadmin thread.

Get over it faggot. Go see a shrink if you are so insecure.
>>51860205
But I really don't have any training in any of these applications and I can't even define what Virtualization is.
This isn't impostor syndrome, it is actual lack of training.
>>51860290
Then go take a class nigger.
>>51860299
I am. That's why I am asking for resources.

www.youruniversityname.com
Alternatively you could contact your IT department LOL
>>51860190
Ask your senpai baka -_-
>>51860498
Senpai isn't in right now.

We do have a knowledge base for our university but it only tells us how to do; not to understand.
>>51860610
Are you sure it's a university instead of a collage? I think that's what you europoors say. A collage is a technical school where university is about understanding/science.
>>51860659
Yeah, I am from a university.
University of Wisconsin - Madison
It's in the name. It's been around for 200-some-years?
>>51860690
Are you a europoor? Why did you say university?
>>51860708
I am a born and bred American.
What is wrong with saying university?
Should I just say Uni?
>>51860719
It must be a regional thing. I don't know a single american that would even consider using the word uni.
Or saying when I was at university.
>>51860290
>I can't even define what Virtualization is
lmao did you even go to school in something IT related?
>>51860788
I think he showed up for orientation and they told him he was the system admin and now there are 5 hot girls trying to jump on his cock while he learns about computers.
At least that's what my animes taught me.
>>51860788
Nope.
Computer Science and Computer Engineering.
Double Major. All I know is that Virtualization is just "simulating" something within the computer? I know what a virtual machine is, a virtual computer but Virtualization is escaping me.
>>51860815
Well, not exactly.
More like I sent in my resume with my shitty past jobs and skills, and they wanted me to come in.
>>51860190
Don't listen to these fa/g/s OP.
Check out Eli the Computer Guy on Youtube, his earlier stuff is super great.

Get your A+ cert, or at least watch the videos if you're freeling insecure.
https://www.youtube.com/user/professormesser
There's a site called Pluralsight that can give you all the training you need for a small monthly fee, they have loads of videos on everything.
https://www.pluralsight.com/
Alternatively there is CBT-Nuggets, but I find that I enjoy the teaching styles on pluralsight a bit better.
/g/ is a great community, but homies can get a bit trollish at times.. as you can see in this thread. Check out the reddit sysadmin community /r/sysadmin they're super kind.. overly so at some points. There are some great resources there.

Thanks bud.
I'll be sure to check it out.
Have an image.
>>51860821
old vertuilization is like emulation, modern is like a sandbox.
just go read up on vt-d and vt-x
>>51860898
Doesn't know what virtualization is, is running 1920x1200
Get the fuck off 16x10 you are embarrassing me.
>>51860861
>helping an incompetent person hide their incompetence
come on now don't do that
Pluralsight in an insanely good platform though.
>>51860943
Fake it till you make it man/g/
>Pluralsight is an insanely good platform though.
It really is, their content is getting better and better too. Hope they put some Ansible stuff up soon, i'm just cobbling together roles and I feel like i'm gonna run off the rails .
>>51860923
I'm sorry if I like things close to the golden ratio.
Also, I actually have four 800x600 monitors.
>>51860905
Gotcha.
>>51860992
>I actually have four 800x600 monitors.
That's it I'm punching out.
>>51861008
What for?
It's actually a nice setup for a poorfag.
Do you know how many monitors the university liquidates?
>>51860972
>Ansible
ay that looks pretty cool actually
I really recommend Troy Hunts Ethical Hacking series for whenever you need something more casual to watch
>>51861246
who the fuck ordered that image. it's fucking everywhere
>>51861173
I felt like a super villan after watching the social engineering portion of that series. HOLY SHIT
