Wendelstein?
Wendelstein!
I don't get it, is the plasma flowing like a particle accelerator or just sitting there?
>>51838680
It's flowing
How exactly does this machine generate energy?
>>51838743
Right now it loses energy, its like a small scale test.
AFAIK It basicallyjust tries to keep plasma as stable as possible so it doesn't lose energy and fusion happens in the plasma. Could be completely wrong.

Which animay is dis?
>>51838743
The heat from the fusion could be used to power a steam turbine.
>>51838743
It doesn't
>>51838662
is this a space donut machine thats that makes space donuts? cool

Two light nuclei collide and form a bigger one.
Mass of the smaller ones is slightly more than the mass of the bigger one, which is given off as heat. Heat powers turbines which produces electricity, which powers the Wendelstein again. Energy loss determines if we get positive or negative net energy.

That was ITER. Wend. is currently being tested only with helium, to see if they can maintain a nice beam. In January they will get deuterium/tritium and the fun will begin.
