b-but it's AB not ABP
still.. cum the fuck on
>>
This is seriously the best blocker on earth.

God bless gorhill.
>>
The redirection feature is god tier. A bit confusing though. Why do the resources have to be hosted locally?
>>
>>51823605
Privacy concerns I believe. Rather than calling a third party to retrieve a script you can just host it yourself or better yet offer up a fake that doesn't really do anything for added protection.
>>
>>51823765
Meh. It would be a lot cooler to be able to host our own duds to be able to use them everywhere.
It'd be a nice community effort too.
>>
>>51823799
The redirect filter does actually allow for that I believe the only thing stopping it from happening is the lack of a trusted third party website to host the dud scripts. The host would have to be trusted or they could just insert whatever they wanted into the scripts and have them loaded into many websites. That's one of the potential dangers.

What exactly is the difference between ublock and ublock origin?
>>
>>51822973
>https://github.com/gorhill/uBlock/releases

>>
>>51823987
ublock origin is better
>>
>>51824108
How so?
>>
>>51824117
Check the changelog that was posted in the opening post of this very thread. Realize ublock doesn't have those features
>>
>>51823130
lol
>>
>>51823994
just reinstall it. it's not signed yet so it didn't autoupdate
>>
>>51824117
Long story that will get people mad if you ask too much.

Basically, uBO owner was the original head dev of uBlock or some shit, then shit happened and he passed on leadership to someone else, but he didn't really mean it, so he regretted doing it and asked for it back, but they denied him and hijacked the project, so he forked his own project, which is now uBlock Origin.

Both sides were retarded. uBlock Origin has active development and is far ahead of uBlock by now, while uBlock is stale and the only thing they actively do is ask for donations.

Just stick to uBlock Origin.

non-origin ublock is a scam.
>>
how do i update it on chrome?
>>
>>51824198
Thanks for the answer. I kept finding opinions from both sides that didn't really explain much. Will change to origin
>>
>>51824117
how new are you? or is that you chris?
>>
>>51824198
>so he regretted doing it and asked for it back, but they denied him and hijacked the project
Nope, the arabic jew offered it back, but gorhill didn't want it due to the amount of 'issues' that were being created everyday on the 'main' repo.
>>
>>51824250
Not everyone keeps up with the same things.
>>
>>51824271
Well, I wasn't too much into it, I just caught bits of the story, but it's better to not go into much detail on that one anyway, all it will do is lure in retards that will shit up the thread.
>>
Wish I could run this shit on Android. I'm super tired of Chrome being such a fuck up on mobile.

>Wish I could run this shit on Android. I'm super tired of Chrome being such a fuck up on mobile.
You can, if you have FF mobile.
>>
>>51823987

uBlock is LITERALLY nothing but an almost year-old version of uBlock Origin with some UI tweaks and I think better Safari compatibility or something. It's hard to even call it a fork; what forked software is to a fork in the road, uBlock is to a car stalled on the side of the highway with uBlock Origin miles ahead of it.
>>
>>51822973
Kill yourself you fucking faggot.

>>51824593
>better Safari compatibility
I can't even find a safari port for origin tbqh. Looks like they abandoned it after the fallout.
>>
>>51824505
>>51824549
FF on android is much, much more of a fuckup than chrome.
>>
>>51824840
How so?
>>
>>51824870
Try it and find out.
>>
>>51824881
I am trying it at the moment and it works fine.
>>
>>51824904
Keep trying.
>>
>>51824840
>>51824881
>>51824908
I've used it since I got a Moto G a couple years ago.
What's your problem with it? Because honestly, besides the lack of options that it suffers from, everything else is fine.
>>
>>51824990
Oh it's got enough options. It's just a laggy, crash happy pile of trash. And I'm saying this as a loyal desktop FF user.
>>
>>51825011
It's not laggy, and my phone only has 1GB RAM. It's faster than the default Chrome, at least.
I crashed on me maybe once or twice throughout 2 years, so I don't know where that's coming from either.

And I'm not even a Firefox fanboy, I actually recently dropped it on my desktop and laptop. There's just no better alternative for Android, at least that I know of.
>>
>>51825036
It is laggy, 30% of the time when I press enter on the URL bar the browser becomes completely unresponsive for 6-7 seconds. Since 42 it crashes pretty much every single session. In the end I got fed up and went to CAF chromium.

>>51825011
>It's just a laggy, crash happy pile of trash. And I'm saying this as a loyal desktop FF user.

Are you me?
>>
>>51825073
Never experienced that myself. It gets a "werks for me" sticker from me
>>
>>51825263
Depends. Are you a OPO user?
