Streaming media dis-services such as Netflix and Spotify require nonfree client programs that impose digital restrictions mechanisms (DRM) intended to stop the user from saving a copy of the data being streamed through her own computer. You should never use DRM that you can't break, so you should not use these dis-services unless you can break their DRM.
A friend once asked me to watch a video with her that she was going to display on her computer using Netflix. I declined, saying that Netflix was such an affront to freedom that I could not be party to its use under any circumstances whatsoever.
These streaming dis-services are malicious technology designed to make people antisocial. (If you don't have a copy, you can't share copies.) Rejecting them is of the highest ethical priority.

I do mind, however, if my operating system is sending all my personal and business documents to a corporation which may or may not collaborate directly with it's respective intelligence agency.

Radio stations are free but to play individual songs and get a playlist, its $9.99 a month. Plus you get YouTube red with it as well so for me, its more than worth it.
Apple Music is better desu
Absolute trash on mobile. Xbox music works really well if you have a windows phone (the layout for it is really nice for me) but trash on anything else. I'm using Google play music now and it comes with YouTube red for the same price as the other streaming services, and works a hell of a lot better than Spotify mobile does.
Goddamn I hated Spotify. It would "delete" my music every update, but it would still be on my phone. So it would download them again, except all it was doing was updating the rights or something, fuck if I know. It would always do it right before I went on a road trip and needed that music downloaded because I wouldn't have service. After the 5th time I dropped that piece of shit like an ugly baby and never looked back. Google play can do everything it did, actually syncs to the music already on my phone, and has a better layout, and YouTube red for the same price, so I don't know why a sane Android user would use anything else

Nothing beats Netease in value and features. Netease costs $0/lifetime, has a ton of songs (a few of them are greyed out and unavailable, but this is a smaller price to pay than $9.99/per month). It has a custom radio function that adjusts according to your music tastes, and automatic lyrics on just about every song.
One thing to note is since the app is originally in Chinese, you will need to search for a Xposed English translation mod, or do without it (the UI is easy enough).

Song selection is pretty decent, but it's usually missing all the little hipster bullshit I like. It's convenient for mobile, but I hate the desktop interface and how restricted it is, especially coming from foobar. It's pretty much Grooveshark without all the licensing infringement that got them taken down.

If you wanna save a song from Spotify, just install any good virtual audio cable/ stereo mix software and record the audio. It's 320kbs with premium so unless you're an audiophile retard, it will work just fine.

My issue with Spotify currently is the Android App.
Seriously... You DON'T have the option for music to pause when headphones get disconnected? You actually removed this from the latest version? On top of that, a few other features are missing too.
And it doesn't work well with my locker (SmartLock). And sometimes it goes missing from my notifications.

It is pretty good. The "radio" is shit compared to Pandora though. You can't add multiple artists and any liked songs jump to the front of the playlist and will replay every time you start that station again.
