Clear audio+ also works, can honestly say it's the best music player I've tried.
Neutron MP is the best sounding media player. How it sounds, being that it's a media player, should take precedence over how it looks.

For those of you who have an actual music collection (>50GB compressed), HikiPlayer and PGMP are solid, folder-based music players.
Metadata-based music players are awful and unusable. If you have a lot of multi-cd and multi-artist albums, such as myself, they're useless.

BlackPlayer is quite good, but the UI is a bit chaotic. Sometimes I can't switch back to the equaliser from the sound effects tab.
Also, it sucks that you don't have some easier way to create playlists other than straight up going through the whole library. A drag and drop would help, tho I'm not sure this is supported in the Android file API.

Wouldn't be able to tell you. I don't think PGMP is bulky though. It ran great on my $50 chinaphone.
I've tested atleast 15 different music players and Black is the best one. I even liked it so much that I paid for the exclusive edition. It's the only app I paid for too.
