Cherry Greens of blues for gaymen /mkg/?
>>
>>51796445
They're really the same thing except greens are a bit heavier and much harder to find and are more expensive so it's really up to you if you want to pay a bunch of extra money to push harder and be a hipster

I'm new to mechanical keyboards if I want to get one with red leds for MA games but that doesn't look like Chinese shit and that preforms well under 200 $ what would be a good one
>>
>>51796723
Ducky Shine 3/4/5, Corsair k70, CM Storm Quickfire are all decent keyboards with lighting for gayming. You should care more about the type of switches you're getting with the keyboard than the color of the leds though.

People make a fuss about Gateron Reds because they are supposed to be smoother than Cherry Reds, but you tell people, that Green and Blue switches are essentially the same. Just shut up if you have nothing to say.

>>51796487
>guessing
>I don't know what I'm talking about, but here is my opinion

>>51796445
It really depends on what you are aiming to play. If you play mostly CS/BF/AC or something with rather slow movement like these it doesn't really matter, get the switch you prefer to type with.
The only game that comes to my mind, where switches actually make a difference would be OSU!. Even fast paced shooters like Reflex/Toxikk don't really profit from blues or even reds. And even while playing OSU! it won't make any difference, as long as you don't play on insane.
Also don't forget Matias Clicky switches. Imho. Matias switches shouldn't be neglected and are at least on par with Cherry.

>>51796693
Yes. Except for their very thin keycaps they make solid boards, nothing extraordinary though. You get what you pay for.

I can't imagine a more apt description for keyboard threads than "I like my keyboard, look at it." The same goes for desktop threads, battlestation threads, build threads, even programming threads eschew one style while condemning another.

I appreciate your candor, however I think the criticism that my posts are in any way contrary to the "spirit" of keyboard threads is utterly incorrect. In fact, I believe that my posts are more respectful and on-topic than most others', and certainly a cut above the unending, repetitive tide of cliquish shitposting typically seen on /g/; I certainly don't do that. I even bother to take new pictures on a semi-regular basis to keep things interesting.

So is mushy browns just a meme or not?
I've heard clears are better, but they're in almost no boards, and I can't deal with the noise of the blues.
>>
>>51801407
Yes and no.

They don't offer the very sharp response you can feel at your fingertips like blues do, they feel like a very subtle depressed button. They're very light, similar to blues.

The meme exists because there isn't really a reason to use them; clears are better for tactility, while blues offer a crisper feeling with an additional click.

Personally I think they're just fine, a nice inbetween zone where they'll be comfortable for mostly anything you do.

I say this because I need to bottom out on blues when gaming, which is technically not good and is slower. But the nature of the blue switch and the bump is better for typing than for quick double taps.
>>
What's the best switch for CSGO?

It needs to allow fluid movement (e.g. bunnyhopping) but also swift and precise counter-strafes.

I've tried MX Browns and the counter-strafe was great, but other than that the movement was very rigid and robotic.

Now I use a $2.50 rubberdome and its ok for moving around, but couter-strafes are not precise enough.

For those who don't know what is counter-strafe in CS: It's when you are strafing in one direction and then you one-tap the key in opposite direction in order to bring your velocity to 0 immediately.
>>
>>51801485
>clears are better for tactility
but how many boards sell a clear variant?
It's just as bad as finding greens

it's even more limited if you want a full sized variant to already cut down a third or so of the options

How much louder is

>>51801601
generally reds are considered best for red if you're very high end, if you're less than global elite or playing on those special servers, I doubt it matters
>>
>>51800035
And I didn't say you were wrong. But the actuatuion force is one of the most important characteristic of a mechanical keyboard.
Telling someone the difference doesn't matter and one is for hipsters only is pretty stupid, especially while people argue about Cherry/Gateron, where the difference is actually way smaller.

>>51801637
Do you live in europe? Because getting a board with greens/clears is really no problem if you consider ANSI boards.
>>
>>51801685
yeah I live in europe, I'm not sure about the more mid range priced keyboards (above 150) but I can't find quickfires, azio MGKs, ducky zero, or other "cheap" keyboards.
The only ones I've found with clears so far were the lineup of ducky boards & the WASD Code board

I guess that's the main downside of budget boards, you don't really get an extended choice in switches

>>
>>51797190
are you clinically retarded anon?
Model M's can be found very cheap and have a built quality superior to any keyboard being made today
>>
>>51801731
Yeah, it seems like Clears and Greens are more expensive and especially exotic. I guess cheap keyboards have a pretty high MOQ, so the worse selling switches aren't considered.

Would you consider an ANSI board? I'm currently typing on one and except for some keys having the wrong label it acutally isn't that much different from a ISO one.
Also is TKL/60% an option? Maybe I can find you something comfy. Where are you from because of shipping and stuff?
>>
>>51801890
I think people who buy the lower end mechanical keyboards are usually "WOW MECHANICAL KEYBOARDS WILL MAKE ME A PRO GAMER" people who don't do research or anything, so they don't really mind that there's not more options

All of the cheap boards I can find are US, except for a single Quickfire TK with browns over at amazon.co.uk, so I'll probably end up getting an ANSI board anyway unless I decide to splurge on a UK filco or code, which I doubt.

I'm pretty afraid to get a wrong board/switch so I'm looking to get something cheaper, I'm already sort of used to ANSI anway because my laptop also has that layout

As for shorter boards, I do like having the extras, even though I don't use them as often. As I'm currently using AZERTY and have been using them all my life, other than when using my laptop. So I'm very used to using the numpad for numbers, as the top line requires shift to type numbers.

I wish I lived in the US so I could just have bought that switch tester from quickfire that came with the discount if you bought a board from them afterwards. Because no shop nearby seems to stock mechanicals other than Razer's Blackwidow

I wouldn't just buy a mech without knowing which switch I like. 70€ are a pretty good price, but it's still a lot of money. However, if you can send the keyboard back in case you dislike the switch you can give it a shot I guess.

>Only switch missing is a Clear one

Also, is that top right purple one a topre?
Do they still offer the discount on cmstorm boards if you show proof of purchase of the switchtester like they used to? I assume not, because it'd probably be written somewhere on the store page but ohwell

as for the site's send back, it only has 22 reviews, but only two of them are bad, one of them is just saying "good prices, bad support" and the other being "my package was opened and used", while the site's support or whatever replied to the review saying it's stated on the site that products can arrive opened & tested for quality assurance. A lot of the people are saying the returns they did worked fine & they got their money back but again, i'm skeptical about the low number of reviews

As for mechanicalkeyboards.nl, they only seem to offer duckies in full size, with the cheapest only in black & red. It might be good for KUL ES-87s, because I can't find them on amazon.co.uk But again, I'd rather get a full sized

>>51802158
use tweakers.net, prijsvergelijker.computertotaal.nl & kieskeurig.nl to check for cheapest price
I'm kind of in a similar spot to you right now
If you don't mind smaller sizes, Quickfire rapid i or quickfire TK should have some low prices for you
I don't think there's any mechanicals with detachable cables at that pricesrange though.
Also check out azio MGK, you'd have to import it from america bringing it to like 115$ total but it's still decently priced
>>

Yes, both have a tactile bump, but the switches feel so different in every regard, I wouldn't compare them. Ergo clears are the better Browns, but you got to solder and open the switches in order to get them.
Clears on cheap boards is always a gamble, clear switches tend to ping as is, but on cheap boards (because of the force needed to press them) the case aches a little. Some people don't care about that, but for me it is a dealbreaker.

The purple one is a Topre, yes. To be honest I think that switch could suit you. Their Topre board is on sale regularly as well, one shop had it for like 80€ some time ago, so you might want to check that switch out.

I don't know anything about that discount, I already have 3 boards around (White, Green and Matias QC), so I don't really look for discounts very often.
>>
>>51801485

They are hated so much, because for awhile nothing but browns were recomended in these threads. They were praised as the greatest switch bar none and as buckling springs reborn.

Kinda laughable actually.
>>
>>51802286
I think mechanical keyboards will last you a very long time. Even if specific switches break or keycaps break, you can buy new switches or keycaps and replace them.

I think you'd have to be EXTREME to actually break anything other than the little feet at the bottom

personally, I'm more of a full size keyboard guy, but if I had to make it smaller, I'd go for the rapid i over the TK. The TK just seems weird, like they're trying to cram too much stuff into one thing

The upside is ofcourse that makes it more adaptable and offers more.

I'm also someone who prefers full sized keyboards.

There's also the XT, which is a cheaper and just normal keyboard. I'm thinking about going to Breda and testing it and the Ducky Zero on a store that sells them cheaper and for the same price.
>>
>>51802484
>There's also the XT, which is a cheaper

usually it's as expensive or more expensive.
It's also in less places/varieties because it's less popular or older, I don't know.

if you have stores where you can test specific keyboards or switches definitely do it.
>>
>>51802513

Instead it is cheaper here in the Netherlands. Up to 10 euros cheaper for a Brown switch.

I guess you have the advantage of being able to go pick up the one at azerty in Raalte pretty cheaply
Ofcourse, I don't know how it is in physical stores, because no physical stores sell mechanicals here

but yeah good luck anon, I'll go hop into my local electronics store to go cry again because the only mechanical one they have is the blackwidow
>>

like I said, I still really like the rapid i, it'll take some getting used to when you come from using numpad for number entry (does netherlands even have azerty?)
But after that you should be fine, unless you do a ton of data entry

it also has the advantage(?) of having a white backlight

Just pulled the trigger on the massdrop WhiteFox keyboard with MX clears. It hit all the good points for me:

-Anodized aluminum (none of the shitty chinese stuff)
-Replaceable cable
-Small form factor WITH arrow keys (fuck the pok3r bullshit)
-Cherry clears

That it comes with LEDs and dye-sub cherry PBT caps is just gravy.

Costs as much as every other keyboard I've ever bought combined though.

Greens are just heavy blues. Your fingers will get tired typing on greens regardless of their gaming application. You can game with literally every switch. The idea is to find which switch gives you a feel you'll enjoy for both applications.

That being said, I'd actually suggest Browns.

When are you ever using your keyboard when you dont need it attached.
>>
>>51807543
Not that I knew of. There aren't very many topre keyboards in the first place.

Perhaps a leopold would suit you.
I've been debating whether to get a realforce TKL or a HHKB, but the lack of dedicated function keys is just a dealbreaker, even though I absolutely love the looks of the HHKB.
>>
>>51807654
In case you want to use a different cable for just about any reason.
>>
>>51796445
One thing to note is that it has been rumored (not confirmed) that greens go through better quality control. Some blues users have reported inconsistencies with each switch, whereas this is much rarer for greens.

I already have a KBT pok3r (Blue), and pure (blacks), and Noppoo spyder (blue)

don't really want to buy anymore mx style switch keyboards.

I'm very happy with the pok3r, but want something I can use in the office. One of my friends has the full sized type-heaven 45 and it's great, I just like the 60% form factor the best.

I'll probably end up with the hhkb at some point.

It works fine, my only problem is it's more of a typing keyboard than a gaming keyboard. When I try to bhop in csgo, the spacebar sits stupidly high and makes it near impossible. But besides that, I really like it.

Keycaps sit very high on the board, easy to clean. Picked mine up for $95 a year ago.
>>
>>51808108
Eh I disagree, its a nice green but maybe you think that straight away because razer?
>>
>>51808196
I think that might just be in your head, makes it seem like keys are higher because it's a flat surface and doesn't go up around the keys
>>
>>51808559
that's what I mean, the switches don't indent into the board at all but sit on the surface, meaning the keycaps sit much higher than a normal board.
>>
>>51808108

>>
>>51808654
that's exactly my point, because the board is flat & the keys sit ontop of them and not "in" them, it seems higher, but I think it's still as high compared to the desk
