I'm not very smart so can someone explain this to me? I use qbittorrent and often I will find a torrent on some public tracker with 1 seeder or so and it'll say 1(1) in the seeds section, but it will be stalled and not downloading at all. But I had always assumed this just meant that the seeder has an especially shit connection because
>lmao public trackers

is it actually something to do with the client? Is that where the >stalled meme comes from? Or am I on the money when I chalk it up to BR internet?
>>
>>51785884
i would bet on
>upload set for 0kb at the seeder
>>
>>51785927
oh, thanks, that makes sense, i hadn't considered that

although if you finished the torrent but don't plan on seeding, why keep it in your torrents list?
>>
>>51785945
well he might be retarded
>or he has better leechers and his client prioritises them
anyway, its easy to test, have a 2nd, not autostarting client that you can use to see if he seeds to that one
>>
I don't understand these threads. Why would you make a thread hating on a piece of free software day after day after day. At least it makes some sense with console wars, operating systems, phones and even MPC-HC versus mpv since they are all highly competitive. But you're not even shilling for your own favourite torrent client.
>>
>>51786063
not yet ;)

Why do you still use public trackers?

Anyone experiencing random I/O errors? It seems to only appear on big torrents. (30GB+)

Yes, it's a fucking joke of a client. We know this. It can't even handle files over 20GB without having I/O errors.

Honestly it's libtorrent all these GUIs for it suffer the same problems, files marked do not download still have space allocated for them, file heavy torrents cause the application to hang, unexpected shutdowns have undefined behavior etc... Almost makes me want to go back to utorrent
>>
>>51787993
>Honestly it's libtorrent all these GUIs for it suffer the same problems

The guy who works on that was a uTorrent employee.
>>
I've never had the stalled problem happen but I did suffer I/O errors more than a year ago.

qBittorrent also seems to have a hard time pre-allocating with torrents over 20GB so I simply disabled that.

Been running fine for me with all versions the past year though but I'm a lightweight torrenter. I don't juggle hundreds of torrents but maybe download 5 at a time at most.
>>
Whatever /g/ recommends, use the opposite, everything /g/ uses is shit, desire, gentoo, qbittorrent, libtorrent, and I know I'm going to oget a lt of shit for this post but /g/ is just a bunch of retarted hipsters trying to be different from everyone else, dont take /g/s opinion seriously in any way, shape, or form, unless you want to ruin your life.

Are you retarded, son? I downloaded a 56GB archive yesterday. It's not the client, it's your operating system and it's respective filesystem. I've never had any problems with qBT on GNU/Linux and EXT3/4.

All other problems with qBT are either PEBCAK, misconfiguration, or Windows-related.
>>
>having I/O errors
Never had this, maybe it tried to DL when disk space was full

>having random "there is no disk in the drive" errors when using USB drives
That sucks. Do you really need to use a USB flash drive though?

>>51785504
>>losing settings if you don't close it properly
Nah, if anything, it's great at this. It doesn't lose shit. Compared to something like utorrent, which did lose stuff (sometimes) when the pc doesn't didn't turn off properly

>>having huge CPU spikes even when not torrenting anything
Though it's rare, it happens. Change the process priority to below avg

>>randomly forgets your completed folder
Yeah, it forgets the watch folder. Pretty annoying. It's a bug in the new version.

>>having a pig-disgusting UI
Sure, it can be better, but it's not that bad.

Most of your problems are fixable. What you didn't mention is, it's bad at racing compared to Deluge. I recommend Deluge if qBit isn't going well for you, assuming you're on Win
>>
>>51788363
>Do you really need to use a USB flash drive though?

He means USB hard drive, retard.

Download the torrent file, don't use the magnet link. When I download something from kat.cr for example, if I use magnet it won't load trackers

This, I recently downloaded something that was around 50 gigs and I was fine, seeding it now. That being said just about any free torrent clients work for me, I have about three installed. I just prefer qbittorent.

Anyone have similar issue after upgrading to latest qbittorrent?

Settings have "Save files to location" on a separate HDD, but it still saves to system disk. Have to manually change it after torrent has finished downloading. The setting is correct but the program isn't doing the job.
