Any TV is also going to have terrible input lag and response time which is crucial for FPS gaming.
There's also the problem of vision. You cannot have a 40"+ screen in your central and decent peripheral vision if you sit up close to it at a desk.
Not only is 1080p/1440p better for response time and visual acuity, but it also offers 120fps/144fps gaming at a reasonable cost and hardware requirement. A 980 ti is lucky to reach 30fps in The Witcher 3 @ 4K.
