What shell do you use?
What do you use for your hostname, why and do you have a naming convention for your machines?
What's your goto username and how did you get/choose it?
>>
>>51754137
OP's answer:

nishale@corruptor:~$

- bash because I don't need anything else
- corruptor because this fucker keeps corrupting its filesystem, i usually use astral bodies and terms from astronomy in general otherwise

Bash. I use bash because its the same everywhere.

My hostname is dogfort. dogcar and wetdog have also been used. I just like dogs I guess. Typically I think it's best to just not stress over hostnames. Have replacements for servers use hostnames that are related, but otherwise just have fun with it and don't make it something retardedly specific that only you and 4 other nerds understand. Disney characters. Planets in our solar system. Last name of Presidents. Basketball players.

My username is my last name.

Shell: Bash

Hostnames: A (rather unoriginal) mix of greek and roman gods, depending on their main function. I also use planets, both real and fictional.

Username: usually 'Zeus' as the main admin account and a nickname I've had for the past 43 years as the main user account.

I'm a lazy fuck.

shell is bash because it's default (when I had an old iBook running OSX 10.1, I used tcsh because it was default, although I eventually switched to bash and then at some point I remember OSX switching to bash)
hostname is n1k@n1k-[whatever the machine is]
so my hostname'll be n1k-air or n1k-craptop or n1k-pi or something, occasionally the OS name will be there (so n1k-windows or n1k-xubuntu or some shit)
and n1k is just a shortened form of my usual username

>you can't hide the macfag inside
I was in a train once, pretty hungry, with the smells of the McDonalds bag of two travelers. I was sad there weren't McDonalds then, just to tell my brain it's indeed disgusting.

It's the same for MacBooks, I just want one to tell my brain it's pure shit, then give it to some liberal-arts graduate.

I will always run free software unless I get a serious brain damage, but I'd like my mother to use an iMac rather than Windows 10 for the record. And I don't think there is anything wrong with installing an open-source Mac OS X clone on Archlinux so I can give it a try.

If I ever needed to use a macbook I'd be damn sure to cover up that apple logo with something and throw Arch or Gentoo on it with a UI that's utterly incomprehensible for most people (like i3). If I gotta be a hipster I'll take it to the extreme.
>>

i3 it way too decipherable. Use pure tty.
>>
>>51758866
I'd rather go for xterm without window manager then. Or just something extremely basic - moving, resizing, that's it.

If anyone that has a clue about these things sees me running Arch in pure text they'll just assume I broke my Xorg.conf...
