Hey I'm trying to build a cheap gaming computer that can still play games at decent setting, any suggestions? Would like to spend less that 500, a lot less if possible

Finance a desktop for $40/m at ironsidecomputers. I'm still paying mine off but it's future proof for the next 3 years. Pays every single game no matter what at ultra 50-60 fps
If you're on a tight budget but want max performance, consider getting used stuff and cheap out on the casing. I don't get why everyone MUST buy everything new. $500 can get you a decent PC.

What hardware do you have currently? Either upgrade that or search craigslist or ebay or whatever local flavor you prefer. Buying new for half a grand is impossible. I mean you could but that pc is gonna suck ass, so you'll just blow those money.

Go second hand and with 500 you can have a very strong build. Just buy a solid psu. If you have any basic pc and trading knowledge you can build a very strong pc. Even with warranty on some parts.
