Hey /g/uise. So I feel like I hit the lottery, but I want you guys to correct me if I'm wrong.
>SAMSUNG 840 Series 2.5" 120GB SATA III Internal Solid State Drive (SSD) MZ-7TD120KW
>From Newegg for $100
>Checking prices for old build to sell it
>SSD sells for $350 on Newegg
>~250-300 elsewhere
What happened??? Why did the price go up?
How much do you think I could sell it for, if at all? Should I just keep it?
>>51727085
Forgot to say that I bought it 2 years ago
Because it's old. It always happens
>>51727114
Why would age increase the price? It's not wine, or steak, its tech. Is there a demand for them?
>>51727253
I really have no idea
>>51727085
older technology costs more than it does today. newegg will take a loss if they sell the old hardware for less than they paid years ago. newer technology is cheaper, so it can be sold at lower prices.
>>51727253
NO. just because sellers are asking that much for that doesnt mean they're selling at all. some of those price listings might be fuck old / not maintained as well
newb here, thought i'd post a question in this thread
Is it viable to JUST use solid state memory as my storage for a gamin pc?
As in, everything on the SSD, OS, games, movies/pictures. Is there something about how many times an SSD can read/write in its lifetime or someth that would make this a bad idea?
>>51727253
They don't make them anymore. You could attempt to sell it for $350, but only OCD's who need name consistency in their RAID would bite.
>>51727526
I refuse to believe those people exist. You can buy better and cheaper SSDs for less. No reason to want to maintain a old name.
>he bought a 120gb ssd
>>51727493
You can base your entire "gamin" PC on a SSD. There is "someth" to it though -- ideally, SSDs shouldn't be topped off. You should keep a certain amount empty because they work faster that way.
>>51727457
but i bought it for 100 back then...
>>51727852
and its fucking worthless now, grow a brain kid.
>>51727889
Then why the fuck would newegg sell it for 350, and others sell it for 250+?? that makes no sense. you're telling me that newegg, amazon, and other huge corporations are as brain dead as you claim I am? cool story bro
>>51727085
idk but i just bought a samsung 850 evo 250gb for $70 at bestbuy
>>51728497
Same fucking concept as when you roll a car off the lot. It depreciates in value quickly.
>>51728497
You are literally 12 - please leave this board.
>>51730284
Maybe I wasnt clear enough... I bought it for 100 2 years ago. now it is worth 350.
>>51731341
Doesn't matter what you think it's worth. No one is going to buy it from you for that price.
>>51731341
They're selling it for $350, but it's not worth it.
I can sell my socks for $100, but no one is going to buy some guy's used sock for that much money.

/thread
This is retarded, you can get a evo 850 250gb for €81.50
>>51727085
The price on a lot of old tech is like that, there's 1st gen i7s for full price, but obviously no one buys them when a 4th gen one is cheaper and 2.5 times more powerful.

Have fun using a broken ssd
