CPU has no firmware. You can, however, update your processors microcode package is called intel-ucode on debian-based systems IIRC

Break open the cpu, then look for a round red thing and pull it out(don't worry, you won't miss it). Then when you boot into Windows it will ask if you want to upgrade the firmware and the cpu will now allow you to do it.

from a users perspective, nothing.
Firmware is software running on a seperate processor part of your PC, e.g. your sound, video and ethernet cards.
Microcode is very small and fast code that translates the Commands your CPU recieves into actual circuit operations. Having the Microcode in between allows CPU vendors to patch minor defects or add more instructions after production.
