Algebra is the most patrician thing to study tbqhwyfam.

This is why this engine has such a shitty reputation.
>>
can you make your unity projectile orient along the tangent of a 3d Bezier curve? You need linear algebra
>>
>>51707103
why would I need that? Bullets move too fast to be visible anyway
>>
>>51707140
This is sad to read OP, learn math or be a webdev.
>>

>that picture
way to complicate something so simple
>>
>>51706653
use unity to simulate you (bmi of over 1000) jumping from a high point. make it calculate the size of the crater
>>
>>51706653

You need this tho

Don't be a nigger they're straight fucking lines. What are you a 14 year old girl in middle school who asks the teacher every day when you're going to use this in the IRL?
>>

Done your homework? Go to bed clueless faggot

So are you a web dev or an Indian?

Good programming requires math. Get used to it. Trying to get by without math means you'll waste time and get worse results.
>>
>>51706653
For simple shit sure.

Are you expecting a game studio to hire you though?
>>
>>51707356
The picture isn't complicated at all though.

+1

They made me take that shit when I was an undergrad and it made no sense...it was as though some math professor had lobbied to get the class added to the core requirements because it was useful to a railway engineer in the 1860s. It wasn't hard but it was frustratingly useless and I got no higher than a B.

I'm working in data science now and it has nothing to do with statistical models, programming and computational graph theory. I hadn't thought about linear algebra at all in since graduating but this post makes me angry that I had to pay for the privilege of cramming that nonsense.
>>
>>51708915
This desu

Math is a meme
>>
>>51708915

bullshit. linear algebra is useful for condensing many many mathematical problems.
>>
>>51708915
So, Mr. data science, do you use any machine learning algorithms in your work? Any optimization work? If so, you are undoubtedly using lots and lots of fucking linear algebra. Jesus christ. Did you seriously get a CS degree and don't understand that linear algebra is used everywhere in the field? Either your degree is shit or you are an idiot. Probably both.
>>
>>51711721

It's kind of hard to believe someone in a technical field could be so mathematically illiterate as to shit on linear algebra.
>>
linear algebra is single most useful undergrad math class tbqh senpai. if you were to only take one math class in college it should be linear algebra
>>
>>51706653
For the inevitable "What the FUCK are quaternions?"
>>
>>51712672

It should be taught in schools way way earlier. You can have a much better grasp on a lot of mind-numbing shit that you may have taken for granted or didn't notice before.
>>
>>51708915
I'm halfheartedly looking to crack into data science, what languages do you use most / are in most demand, any other tools or fields I should look at?

Cheers mate
>>
as much as i disliked linear algebra, it is used quite a bit in my engineering classes.
>>

This
>>
i got in A in linear algebra but i dont even remeber it anymore took it two years ago should i relearn it lads
>>
>>51706653
Bruh, linear algebra isn't even that hard. It's the diff.eq and numerical methods shit that will slap your shit.
>>
Linear Algebra is used in statistics and probability, which in turn is used in Computer Science in algorithms which take advantage of statistics (called heuristics) to approximate a solution faster than they would had they simply brute forced every combination.
There is a class of these called Monte Carlo algorithms.
>>
>>51712698
Wharever he will answer, please don't listen to this fucker. He doesn't know what he's talking about.

I'm gonna answer instead. I recommend biting into R (nice for various statistical analysis) and/or data processing focus Python modules (Numpy/Scipy, Pandas and lot's of other tiny, more specialised extensions). If you need very efficient tools (like 'terabytes of data in real time' efficient) try to learn C/C++, including OpenMP/OpenCL/CUDA for parallel computing.
>>
math is just a meme. It's useless in our industry
>>
>>51713243
cheers.
>>
>>51713333
your industry is literally complicated calculators
>>
Well i'll start a machine learning online course and the very first thing is a linear algebra review.
>>
>>51707140
Confirmed bait.

/thread
>>
>>51706653
It has it's uses. It may not be useful in whatever you're doing but it's definitely useful in advanced sciences and statistics.
>>
>>51706653
Linear algebra is so fucking basic, why can't you just fucking learn it? Let me guess, do you think calculus is useless too?
>>
>>51709123
>Using desu

Point nullified there, fuqboi. I bet you're studying art or politics.
>>
I don't remember the projection formula anymore. Something like ((a•b)/||b||2)b or some shit.

Never needed to use any of the shit I learned in those classes after the class.
>>
In taking linear algebra as part of my EE degree. Is it a meme or does it really have a use in this field?
>>
>>51706676
Prettiest science its pure its Meth... Faggots cannot fell his power
>>
>>51713855
Linear algebra is amazing. Google for linear algebra applications and you will find thousands.

Calm down there senpai. Here in this imageboards, the senpaitachi don't bully like you baka.
