Idle or under load?
>>
>>51685104
3.5 is enough for 1080. I don't plan on doing anything above that for the time being.
>>
>>51685124
Idle. Chrome was open a video was running as well.

Not at all, like i said. Totaly normal temps. You have nothing to worry about.
>>
>>51685042
did you just buy that shit at frys on black friday? they had that exact combo
>>
>>51686313
No. Ordered everything from amazon.
>>
Graphics card a bit roasty toasty but you're fine. CPU is even a bit cooler than average I'd say.
>>
>>51687073
40 degrees isn't toasty at all. Many modern GPUs idle at 40.

pretty normal but that gpu is a little warm for now a days. Hell even most non-ref 2xx and 3xx cards idle in the 30-35 range in cases with decent airflow.

If it's a strix model and it's in 0db mode then 41 is fine, but if the fans are spinning and the computer is idling then try playing with the fan curves. Asus likes to put really conservative fan profiles to keep they're cards quite at the cost of temp. Just increase the fan speed till it reaches what is considered loud for you then back it down till you can't hear it.

>shadow of i probbably wont be playing it

>>51687368
Do fans even spin on idle GPUs? If the card has smartfans then they won't turn on until it hits 60 degrees.
>>
>>51687369
>still needs more than 3.5 gigs of vram
>>
>>51687798
depends on the card. you can pretty much make a fan curve to act like that if you wanted it to. A card that doesn't have a silent mode can run it's fans at a low enough rpm that it's pretty much silent. My fans on my 390 nitro do get noticeable over the rest of the system till 40%. I keep mine at 25% and it maintains low 30s at idle
>>
>>51685042

completely normal
>>
/g/ stop trolling OP

Those temps are way too high
>>
>>51688010
The 9xx series does have smart fans, so if OP is unhappy with idling at 40-50 he'll need to adjust the settings. Otherwise they'll only turn on when the GPU is under load.
>>
>>51687368
His card probably has no fan spin when idle.. my 980ti idles around 40 due to this too.

It's not warm in the slightest for the card either.
