I wouldn't use Hassnsoft outside of chink cartoons and scaling to big sizes like 4K
>>
Developers fixed it:
https://github.com/mpv-player/mpv/commit/17507b593506ad820cfabbe2fcec208ffe9d073f

Patents are just insane, the mpv nnedi3 implementation is better than with madvr or mpdn.
Bjin made some improvements that should make nnedi3 a different algorithm, doesn't it?

>>
Interpolation is useless if you change your display framerate.
Interpolation needs display-sync that is too much gpu consuming for a medium config.
>>
>>51662469
>Interpolation needs display-sync
When did this happen?
>>
>>51662419
lanczossharp is less intensive than haasnsoft? I thought the former was Jinc3 equivalent and haasnsoft was blurrier and less demanding?
>>
What do I need to play HEVC in mpv?
>>
>>51662557
Nothing, if you're running a recent version it should be able to decode HEVC
>>
>>51662326
could someone write up a quick list of the scalers (scale, cscale) in order of how intensive they are on your hardware? i feel like it would make it easier for people to determine 'high' 'medium' and 'low' configs

or has this been done somewhere?
>>
>>51662570
Some dev calculated the texture fillrate that ewa_lanczos needs, but aside from that afaik there's no other way to calculate what kind of hardware require the scalers
>>
>>51662586
well i mean surely it's not that hard to determine which scaler is more intensive than another, right?
>>
>>51662567

I'm running the latest stable. I have libde265 but it keeps spitting out "failed to initialize a video decoder for codec 'hevc'".
>>
>>51662783
Compiling it by yourself? Any recent version of ffmpeg/libav should be able to decode HEVC
Are you using hwdec? It might be broken with HEVC
>>
>>51662783

Now that I checked mpv's decoder list on my system, for some reason, it doesn't list h265...
>>
>>51662364
If I understand correctly, it's not a problem with patents as much as it is with licencing. The GLSL version might have parts ported from the LGPLv3 OpenCL version.
>>
>>51662570
>i feel like it would make it easier for people to determine 'high' 'medium' and 'low' configs
I think that runs the risk of making people assume the most GPU intensive shaders are the best shaders. Someone could look at that list and assume NNEDI3 was good.

I'm on 0.11 with ffmpeg 2.8.1
I get annoying frame drops when playing 1080p and when choosing framedrop=no I get video/audio desync.
I'm on thinkpad T420 with integrated intel graphic.
The only settings I have is vo=opengl-hq.

Any help is appreciated.
>>

How do you do that?

mpv --vd=help

That'll list all the video decoders currently available to mpv.
>>
>>51663406
opengl-hq now includes debanding by default, the HD3000 found in the T420 can barely keep up with 1080p24 using debanding
You will have to use
vo=opengl.scale=spline36:cscale=spline36:dscale=mitchell:dither-depth=auto:correct-downscaling:sigmoid-upscaling:pbo:es=no

Which is the same as opengl-hq, except for not using deband, disabling PBO's might help too
>>
>>51664259

Should I use vf=gradefun?

How's this?
>>

deband is built in and a -hq default

Oh, nice. Anything else I should tweak?

That commit isn't in any of the lasch0r compiles, if you look around the archive in every mpv thread there's this fuck who copy pastes some random config, it's really easy to spot the guys who can't even read a manual since they have dxva2 and icc-profile=auto
>>51676917
More neurons=less artifacts
According to madVR fucks after 32 there's little point to more neurons
>>51676941
It's how neural networks work, this kind of weird artifacting it's exhibited on other NN doublers
>>51677460
Color management stuff, ie. icc-profile=auto
>>
>>51679049
>That commit isn't in any of the lasch0r compiles

Because he's getting real lazy about making new builds. There is another one: https://bitbucket.org/rorgoroth/mpv-for-windows/downloads

> if you look around the archive in every mpv thread there's this fuck who copy pastes some random config, it's really easy to spot the guys who can't even read a manual since they have dxva2 and icc-profile=auto

True, but just because some winfag has icc-profile=auto in his conf doesn't mean he's a retarded fuck who blindly copypastes configurations. It actually works now.
>>
>>51679905
Do those builds have ANGLE support?
>>
>>51679049
are you implying that icc-profile:auto and dxva2-copy don't work on windows right now?
>>
>>51679941
No idea. Haven't tested it. The lack of support for ICC profiles is too big of a deal for me.
>>
>>51662326
>shilling a shitty media player
>>
>>51680392
>>51679905
icc-profile=auto didn't work in Windows until that commit made 8 days ago, which menas that all the configs posted before that had dxva2 and icc-profile=auto were made blindly
>>
Why am I getting this

Error parsing option backend (option could not be parsed)

Is backend= not a valid option for vo? Eg.

vo=opengl:backend=win
>>
You do not need a general for a fucking video player jesus christ

Make a wiki page and stick it on the /g/ wiki
>>
>>51680803
Try with :backend=win32
>>
>>51669048
That sound like a problem with your garbage non-Unix OS without a package manager.

Still trying to figure out why my shit started stuttering out of the blue a week or two ago though. Seriously, either my shit stutters or the v-sync refuses to work. It's kind of annoying.

What do you mean, you don't even understand japanese in something as fucking simple as a kyoani anime?
>>

Not true. They wait for a VO profile feature (or whatever it was called).

I'm too lazy to learn japanese

What do I set that when resizing the mpv window, it doesn't create black bars, horizontal or vertical. keepaspect doesn't seem to work.

Because remembering a few keybindings is super scary.

Which should I use on windows to watch my anime ? This or mpc-hc with madvr (which I am currently happy with) ?

If you're happy with your setup, keep it.

>>51681881
Yeah, that's what I thought , but are there advantages of using mpv , like reduced resources usage for the same output ?

Just fucking download it and compare the two.
>>

Advanced scalers (like ewa_lanczos, MadVR's "jinc") are supposedy more optimized and you can do more fine-tuning, but if your setup is alredy fine without framedrop it won't change anything for you.

On the other hand, most OpenGL drivers on windows are shit. mpv's devs are trying to "fix" this problem with ANGLE and dxinterop, but in some cases there could be big issues with popular features.
>>

Nvidia's pretty good.

ANGLE is nice, but lack of support for ICC kills it. Is that hardcoded into it or can it be circumvented?
>>
>>51681724
Anyone?
>>

You can still normally use the old backend.
