Hi /g/
I decided to put some data into a rar archive with a 100 character long password ( both letters numbers and special symbols )
Thing is I forgot that password so I wondered how long it'd take to recover it by brute force.

According to this website it will take several trillion centuries.

Dumb frogposter
every computer on earth working simultaneously would crack it in around 200 billion years

Ask the NSA of they have the password

ur fuked kid

The universe will undergo heat death a thousand times before you brute force that password. Your only hope is that your version of WinRAR had some NSA backdoor built into it, but good luck actually making use of that if it even exists

What if it's 7zip? Then he gotta be fukd
What's in the archive, OP?

This is why people use a wordlist.
Start by searching through all known words and then every combination of two words, three words, four words etc.
It still takes a long time but it is a lot more effective.
In a lot of situations people use weak passwords that is a single word so niggerniggerchickendinner is still considered strong. But it is crackable.
no you didn't

A password made up of 4 of the most common 10,000 words has an equivalent search space of about a random 8-character password. But the attacker would have to know that you use a password like this, and the strength could be greatly increased by one letter or putting a space or number somewhere in the password, so it's still a good way to make strong passwords

>Everyone enters their passwords into this site
>NSA has your IP address and password
Hilarious

There's no reason why you couldn't perform a transform on words that converts shit like leet to 1337 or password to p455w0rd. Could even do it selectively with combinations.

>implying it matters

If you're gonna be doing a transform just use a hash.
Like md5 your short password, bam, nice long one.

Some game data
>100 character password
NOW IT IS SUPER SAFE OP
Noone will every see this data ever again
