I want a kotatsu so bad.
I should build my own.
What would be a good heater unit to nail onto the bottom of the table?
>>
>>51658043

You could probably make a kotatsu using your computer as a heater. If your computer is under/in your desk, you can just put a large blanket over the top of your computer and the heat from it will be trapped under the blanket.
>>
>>51657204
0 is rather cold on either scale.
>>
>>51657927
when you live in a small inner city house, i'm sure that central air is enough

in large homes, central air does not heat every room evenly, especially with multiple floors, because the sensor is based in one location

heating the coldest room with a ceramic heater is a better option than warming the entire house due to one room being cooler

ironically to your statement, they are also more expensive to run than a natural gas furnace
>>
>>51658077
Firstly, that sounds like a really terrible idea for the computer.
Secondly, I'm not a pc gaming virgin so I don't have a desktop.

I just want to shitpost on /g/ and play vidya like they do in my chinese cartoons.

>>
>>51658302
There's tons on Amazon with free shipping. Or you could travel to Japan and get one like I did.
>>
>>51658302

all a kotatsu is is an electric blanket over a coffee table with another board on top over the blanket. I'm sure you could find one on Amazon or you could just buy a $10 electric blanket from Walmart, one or two sheets of particle board from Lowes/HomeDepot to cover the entire surface of your coffee table (usually $5 a piece), and just use whatever existing table you have.

Viola.
>>
>>51658302
Just make one. Google "how to make kotatsu". I saw an Instructables post where a guy made one from an Ikea table. You'll probably have to buy a kotatsu heater for under the table though and mind all the voltage stuff

I'm a machinist. Generally wearing gloves is a great way to lose a hand. I just deal with the cold, and go stand in front of the heater occasionally. The cold doesn't really bother me until it gets close to single digits anyway. If your working like you should be though, it actually helps warm you up a lot.

I found a $20 "personal" sized space heater on amazon, 200 watts. That's nowhere near enough heat to keep you warm, but it's plenty to keep a hand warm. Bought two and put them on my desk, one pointed at each hand. Protip: tip them over and secure them to the desk with sticky tack to have them pointing slightly downwards.

The fact that nobody's considered that OP's hands are cold because his office is fucking freezing like mine tells me that everyone on this thread is a fat fuck.

My office doesn't allow any electrical gear that they don't approve. That means no heaters, no usb additions, no coffee maker, hotplates, no cell phones (seriously they get stored at security)

Bikeshedding is the proper word for it. /g/ mainly talks about brackets, syntax, and identation styles because it's non complex and everyone can contribute a opinion and be semi valid.

have you ever considered that to some people it's much worse to be too hot than to be too cold?

I would NEVER live in california, texas, florida, etc.

Minnesota gets too hot in the summer as it is. Too cold in the winter but at least I'm conditioned for that. For some reason I never get used to the heat.

Texas and Florida are shitholes because they feel like swamps when it gets hot, due to the humidity. Here in California if it gets hot you can just go to the beach.
