Do any of the ThinkPad X2xx laptops have decent displays?

I have an X200 and I love every thing about it - except for the display. It's fucking dull and horrible, and I do a lot of photo editing.

If you're ready to buy a new laptop just for the display, why not just buy a monitor?

If you're not mobile much, this.
>>
>>51656761
I am considering that, but of course, that throws any portability out the window.
>>

yeah, colors aren't perfect.
wasn't meant for media editing. isn't specced for it anyway.
a monitor would be much smarter to buy than another laptop.

get an X220 with IPS
>>

>IPS
placebo

Replace that stock x200 with a affs screen or a ips screen on the x220. Watch out, some x220 ips screen has really bad ghosting.
>>

It really isn't. The TN panels in older Thinkpads are really fucking bottom-of-barrel dogshit-tier.

Best option is to install your own.

The X220 and X230 had IPS display options.

Although the early X220 IPS models had image retention and white spot problems.

Also all of the X220t and X230t's had IPS displays, but the earlier X220t still had the same issues as the non-tablet.

I have an X220t and it had a couple white spots and really bad image retention, but then the touch screen started fucking up while it was still under warranty so I got it replaced.

even if it was IPS, the colors are still pretty off. speaking from experience.

Google X200 affs mod

Can I put an X220 or 30 screen in to my X200...

On a side note, what's the fashionable monitor at the moment? Dell Ultrasharp? No point going ore than 1080p as the X200 only has VGA.

Buy a dock for like 10 bucks and then you have display port
>>
>>51656860
My x230t has image retention.
>>
>>51656920
For photo editing Ultrasharps are probably your best bet

what about for hacking?

Not OP but i also have a very similar dilemma. I looked up affs screens and theyre only like 1280x800, which is pretty shit desu senpai

If I get this can I put a grafix card in it?

egpu maybe?
>>
>>51656880
Its not about the colors, its about the viewing angles. I just picked up an x220 for $75 and was pleasantly surprised.
>>
>>51657564
where did you find one for 75
>>
>>51657779
might have gotten a bios-locked one, and has the tools to fix it.
