I want to make a piano-playing robot. This means I need 88 units of something that can apply 4-60N of force over a distance of ~1cm within ~10ms when initiated by an electric signal.
I don't particularly care whether it is a solenoid or some kind of pneumatic or hydraulic thing, but it needs to be able to modulate the force to play louder or quieter.
Anyone have any links or experience with this kind of thing?

Yeah, it's called get an engineering degree.

like this?

Dude, servos attached to cams. Ez. Then you need a midi controller and you're off
But you're never going to even start your little project

Can you even hear the piano over all those shitty servos?
You won't get the precision your looking for using pneumatics or hydraulics. You would need to use servo motors with timing belts. This will be a costly project.

Sure the audio is digital
But there are pianos who play themselves already

why not just midi mang?

It's OK to admit you don't know.

Thanks, that is more along the lines of what I'm looking for. Aking 4chan is kind of a long shot, but sometimes you get lucky.

Money isn't an issue.
