Is it worth getting one of these?

that shit looks like a phone glued onto a neon-yellow painted piece of wood
jolla is kinda in freefall right now.
sucks we are stuck with walled garden and android. don't get me started on WP

Just get a phone that can run Replicant.

I owned one for about half a year. It was a cool concept, but a complete fail at the end.
The hardware while being OK for Jolla apps is just too weak for android. This wouldn't be too much problem, if not the fact that only good native apps are IRC and Spotify, rest is complete shit (especially those made by jolla, sic!).
Tl Dr don't buy it, get a Nexus.
Didn't they say they were just going to port Sailfish to other handsets?
I'd be interested in the OS I just think the hardware is a joke for the price.
Also the apps would probably piss me off after awhile. I use LINE and WeChat everyday.
I really want Sailfish OS to work and proliferate so we have more than a single sane mobile software stack out there (note: android isn't sane). It has huge potential but the guys behind the wheel seem to be in a perpetual state of hamfistedness. Their public relations thus far have been a joke. I can't say my hopes are high.

The ported version of the OS doesn't run Android apps because the Alien Dalvik runtime is from a different proprietary company. I've reluctantly moved to an Android phone after my Jolla. It's just not the same anymore.
I'm using one to write this. It seems throughly reasonable to me, way better than the S3 running Replicant I was using before. I've never owned a flagship though so I might be blinkered. Battery life is still great, 2 days average or 4 if I only use gpodder and the alarm.
I wish they would make it completely free software (event if it wouldn't be able to run 'android' programs) so that RMS will approve it and FSF would list it in their 'Giving Guide'.

Fuck the EFF. They don't pay Jolla's bills.

If Jolla will get listed by FSF, neckbeards will start buying their products. Lots of them do not care about the price of 'muh freedoms' (remember €1'000 neo900 pre-orders).
