So... I have several machines running VirtualBox and, as of today, not even one of them will launch across ALL of my machines. I've checked the VBox forum and I'm seeing a lot of threads being started with the same error being the issue:
E_FAIL (0x80004005)
All of my VM's are down across all of my machines with this error. A quick check of the VBox forum shows 5 threads with the same error popping up and I'm sure more will be coming.
Is VirtualBox kill?
>>51635591
Yes, use VMWARE WORKSTATION 12 PRO
>>51635591
Yes, use MS HYPER-V SERVER

The paths to your virtual harddisks are lost.

>>51635591
It works on my machine.
>>51636045
I'm using 5.0.10
>>51635963
No auto update either on any of my machines.
https://forums.virtualbox.org/viewforum.php?f=6
there are several threads there with the same error, all of them posted today.
>>51635591
Mine runs just fine.
>automatic updates
>ever
It's 2015.
>>51635591
>Is VirtualBox kill?
Probably not.
I guess Microsoft fucked up again with some automatic (read forced) update.
>>51636117
>>51635591
btw I use VBox 4.3.26 and it werks fine.
Haven't updated Windows since August though.
sudo /sbin/vboxconfig
sudo /sbin/rcvboxdrv setup
Fixed the issue today for me breh
>>51635591
Serious question OP why VB? VM Hyper visor 6 is free and better as in stable
>>51636151
Same here, haven't updated Win7 on any of my machines since August, but I'm on VBox 5.x across the board.
>>51636602
Not OP but Vmware workstation made my system pretty unstable
>>51635591
Contents of the log file?
>>51636602
because I've been running VirtualBox for years and I'm not using server hardware.
What are the benefits of using a VM?
>>51637088
ok cool
>>51637091
open funky files without fucking your shit up
>>51636602
Do you have to install VMware vSphere Hypervisor and Esxi?
>>51637091
I separate the work I do for clients from my everyday stuff using VM's. Since I also do a bit of security research I use VM's for sandboxing malware (I also have a P4 machine when I run across malware that refuses to run under a VM).
sounds like your kernel modules bruh

I'm assuming you're both on Linux... well... the first one I can see you're on linux.
>>51637656
Win7x64
>>51637649
It's really comfy, because i have the Windows taskbar on autohide mode on the left side so i don't waste space and the virtual machine is set to start on the 4th desktop.
>>51635591
I haven't run VirtualBox in ages, but jesus christ what happened? It won't fucking load, even when I haven't touched anything.
Is there a killswitch in the spring update?
>>51637168
Every one is confused at to the way they name it. Its now called VMware vSphere Hypervisor 6.0 or some times ESXi

BMWare a literal shit on every OS I've tried (Linux,Mac,Wangdows).

Thanks

OP, go into your BIOS and turn on virtual hosts or w.e

if you want more help, post version number
General question, if I wanted to use two monitors for my VM but wanted only my integrated graphics to power both of them, how would I do it?
Virtualbox literally cockblocks me from doing this.
>>51637112
But there is already a bypass for that shit
>>51638192
I think eyefinity would work for you
>>51638255
But the sandbox OS won't even recognize a second monitor, let alone the three I have plugged into my computer.
>>51638281
sorry, you need to enable multipe monitors in vb
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0h27EH1F2Fs
>>51638314
But I did. I've check it twice.
I even tried switching the two monitors I wanted the VM to be on to the ports on my motherboard.
I get one to work, but the other won't get recognized.

I don't think your individual experience will sway me into any direction. The rest of the world uses it and if your looking for a job I never once see any large company ask for VBox.
>>51638633
>individual experience
Others in this thread say the same, tbhonest fambly.
>>51638633
dis
virtualbox has always been garbage, then a garbage company oracle acquired it, and they're gonna shit on it like all sun's other projects to promote oracle vm server
>>51638168
yeah, no. It's turned on all of my machines and has been on as long as I've had them. It's one of the first things I do when I bring a new machine online.
>>51638633
OP here, I use nothing but VMWare products in the corporate space. I have yet to encounter anything but VMWare shit on the corporate level.
>>51635591
antivirus deleted all the vdi files.
