I want to buy a portable Audiobook player for my mum for Christmas, but of course Amazon's search functions are about as useful as Ask Jeeves.
Does anyone have any recommendations?
There are plenty of cheap MP3 players, but I don't think that will cut it, do they make specialized Audiobook players or perhaps an Android based device that I can install my own apps on?
I was thinking maybe a cheap chink tablet?
>portable audiobook player
Jesus christ
Just get something with a microSD slot for $20

I listen to a lot of audiobooks myself and most MP3 players aren't going to cut it, you need a specialized system for tracking digital bookmarks and playing the desired formats.
It needs to be able to keep your place if you navigate away or turn the device off.
I use an Android device with an app that has this function, but I can't afford to just buy her a tablet.
won't a kindle do this?

A KIndle Fire would but I can't afford it.
I was thinking something like this:

I know the specs suck but it only needs to be able to run audiobook apps.

I've looked at those, a regular MP3 won't cut it unfortunately, it has no ability to place bookmarks.
