Hello /g/

Linux can’t handle professional audio editing software. Prove me wrong with an alternative to pic related.
>>

>>51628557

Linux doesn't have software for any kind of 'professional' creative work, be it audio, video or graphics.
>>
>>51628867
Is there any reason for artists and professionals artistic domains to switch to linux then?
>>
There's no reason for anyone to switch to Linux..

Show me viable Linux alternatives to:

Photoshop
InDesign
Adobe Audition
Pro Tools
Avid
Final Cut Pro
Dreamweaver

Tools that could be used in a professional environment, not crappy homebrew shit like GIMP
>>
>>51629169
As a matter of fact, I have both Arch and Windows on my machine, but I don’t find any good reason to completely wipe Windows from it.
And I got confirmation that I should keep it, otherwise, as >>51629811 said, I can’t work anymore.

Nice shitpost response.

Dreamweaver is used at most web companies for basic HTML layout, newsletters etc.

Linux is a ricing anime OS used by neckbeards who will never have a real job. Just ignore them and use Mac or WIndows, something that professionals use.
>>
>>51629934
what year do you think it is?

dreanweaver is a piece of crap and not a single professional webdev should be using it in production.

Notepad++/Sublime/Vim/Atom/Brackets are the big ones. Dreamweaver is ded m8.

GNU/Linux has minimal desktop marketshare compared to OS X/Winblows so companies making such software see no profit in developing a version specific for it.

And companies like Adobe are not famous for writing quality code/software, so getting them to work on a linux port of their creative suite would require shitloads of money.
Microsoft had the money to pay Adobe to properly develop and maintain them, because Microsoft saw the money in it.

In the GNU/Linux world the only company that could possibly pay up for it is RedHat and they on the other hand see no money in software for hipsters with homosexual tendencies.
They prefer to stick with government contracts and I can't blame them for it.
It's an endless source of dosh.

I work for media production, 99% of our machines are linux, in fact, the majority of high names production software available for linux natively(not open source, though) , they just don't release it for public due to "multiple distros support headache", which is non sense since they can limit support for only one distro.

Oh, I actually wondered if such thing actually exist.
Because I see no reason why it would be hard to port already existing OS X version to LInux and vice versa.

What companies handle it this way?

>>
>>51628557
no you're right. It cant. It also cant handle PROFESSIONAL video work. No intermediate codecs (that dont suck). Linux is a server os. anything outside of that is just playtime with a hacker wanabe
>>
>>51633436

pro tip, if you really want to run homebrew instead of professional software, GIMP is also available for Windows. no reason at all to use Linux.

They ofically admit it, search around and you'll find that.

>What companies handle it this way?
Almost all of what I use, starting from image editing to 3D modeling and animation

and I once asked one of our tech guys why would we run the programs in linux if it simply available in windows? he answer me directly that you'll get a significant performance improvements, but the main factor here is the high flexibility of network rendering and making a render farms for 3D animation, video rendering.

Licensing fees. If your work is easy enough to do on the open source software, you'll save yourself a lot of money in licensing. Also, it's always good to support the development of the foss software and make it better--given enough time and support, maybe GIMP will be able to challenge photoshop someday.

If any linux art program is capable of professional work, it's Blender.
>>
>>51633963
>>51633963
>Blender

Blender is the absolute epitome of a typical piece of Linux software.

The ui was designed by coders, for coders. Without any thought given to normal users. You Need
a fucking CS degree just to figure out how to get started.
>>
>>51628557
>>51628557

That's true, the UI is pretty shit. But it does a really, really good job once you know how to use it.
>>
>>51634077
if you can't figure out how to use blender, you probably shouldn't be working in the field.
>>
>>51634114

>>
>those spergs w/ excuses
Linux is garbage. G A R B A G E.
People only use it because it's free and because they can shitpost about it on this fucking cancerous board.

No good software exists of Linux. It's a timesink for neet nerds who want to circlejerk in desktop threads.

Once you grow up, you'll realize I am right. Windows is better for work.

Yes, deep down you know I'm right. Stop making excuses, don't even bother replying.
>>
>>51634202
is shilling for memesot more profitable than the rupee for a poopee project?
tell us more about in panjeet
>>
>>51628557
If you need a specific program for your trade, and no alternative will work for you, why would you stop using it? Why would you change your OS at all? That's fucking stupid.

Most people have general enough needs that they can be filled by a variety of software. Those people should consider switching.

Linux will continue on without you, just like Windows would if you switched.

OP is a faggot as usual
