Could I please get some thoughts on this build? About to pull the trigger and I am watching the prices go up as I waffle with uncertainty. There's nothing horribly wrong here, is there?
>>
CPU is shit. GPU is serviceable with an i5.
>>
>>51625900
The most processor intensive thing I intend to do is some gaming, would you still say that?
>>
You don't need a Z97 mobo if you only intend to stay with an i3.

If you intend to upgrade to a 4690k then by all means go for it. I have that mobo and I love it every day.
>>
Fucking Z97 board
Fucking 750W PSU
Fucking i3
Fucking aftermarket cooler for an i3
HAF 912 when there are better alternatives

Fucking SSD IN A BUDGET BUILD

You've consumed too many memes.
>>
>>51625986
>HAF 912 when there are better alternatives

the half is good for the price

assuming you want to sli later the board is fine
>>
>>51625986

There's no reason not to get an SSD for your OS unless you can't afford a PC at all
>>
You could probably get a Z87 board with an i5 4440 and a GTX 970 for that price, a CX600M will be more than enough if you want to buy corsair.
>>
I am surprised to see all the hate for the mobo...it's on sale and is only like 10-20 more than other mobos but is much better reviewed. I don't plan to SLI but I figured this one would have just be less likely to be faulty.

>>51625986
>HAF 912 when there are better alternatives
What case would you recommend then?
>>
Oh, I see. You can't OC the i3. I didn't realize it was locked. Fuck.
>>
Ok, completely revised build. Thoughts?

Fuck, forgot the image.
>>
>>51626601
Now you have an overclockable cpu on a non overclockable board. Get the z97 guard pro if you can find it. Other than that, good build.
>>
>>51626601
Also if you can squeeze like 30 more bucks you can get an R9 280 which will dominate the 950.
>>
>>51626641
I think I will get a regular i5-4690 over the 4690k, it is 185$ on Frys. That way the mobo is ok.

>>51626659
I would but the only ones left on Newegg have like 2 reviews...
>>
Here ya go bub

>>
Buy a cheaper 960.

Buy a i5.

Ditch the CPU fan.
>>
>>51625942
Lots of games use 4 cores.
>>
>>51626641
How is a board non overclockable, if I may ask? It's the first I've heard something like that.

>>51626772
PC Partpicker doesn't list it but that GPU is out of stock.
>>
>>51625824
I would suggest a better PSU, and maybe a cheaper HDD.
>>
>>51626601
Are you planning to overclock? If not, you don't need that CPU fan.

You should get a 380 instead. I don't know anything about the 950, but I'm sure it's shit.
>>
>>51626590
>>51626601
Is this for gaming? Because you lowered your GPU for a better CPU, when the original setup was better for gaming.
>>
>>51626806
Some boards just don't support overclocking. The "K" series of intel processors are the ones that are overclockable. You can mix and match them in most cases as long as you don't plan on overclocking.
>>
>>51625824
You can do WAY better for less:

So? Get another 380, it's still better than a 960

http://pcpartpicker.com/p/WLZdZL
>>
>>51626828
Yes it's for gaming.

Ok, can I get suggestions for the GPU? I will just do whatever /g/ says at this point, sick of thinking about it.

Haha...that one is also sold out on Newegg.

The only ones left have dodgy/few reviews, but maybe that's normal for GPUs? Also doesn't the 380 require a lot more power?
>>
And this would be if you want to go a little nuts but keep your ~$750 price range:

Note: the GPU will perform great, and is amazing price for the performance, but the cooler is god-awful and will be noisy and not really keep the card all that cool. Hawaii runs safely up to 95°C so even though it runs hot the card itself is fine, but the noise may bother you.
>>
>>51626874
>sick of thinking
It is best to get something you know is good, rather than get something based on the advice of random strangers.

For your budget, a 960 or 380 is best.

This http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16814127913 is the cheapest that I can find that is in stock. These are the final hours of Cyber Monday, so there are only a few good deals left in stock.
>>
>>51626890
You lack a GPU, the PSU is mediocre (barely above shit-tier), the WD Black is unnecessarilly expensive and you'd be better off with a 1TB WD Blue with an SSD for another $15, and an aftermarket cooler is unnecessary since you wont be overclocking that locked CPU and the stock fan is perfectly fine for stock clock speeds.
>>
>>51626874
>>51626890
Swap to this http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16822148840 if you wanna save a few more dollarinos.

Some idiot told you to skip getting an SSD. Do not listen to that idiot. Get an SSD.
>>
>>51626909
No, it draws ~30W more than a 960 at peak load
>>
>>51626933
I own both a Blue and a Black and the performance difference between the two is negligible. I use both in a SSD/HDD system so they are just storage drives. The blue is a lot quieter and just as fast. I believe my black is a year older than my blue.
>>
>>51626933
>You lack a GPU, the PSU is mediocre (barely above shit-tier)
Ok...what PSU should I get instead?

>>51626961
Will do. I feel better about that too.

>>51626920
I will go with a 960 then.

Thanks for all the help, I appreciate it.
>>
>>51626641
>Now you have an overclockable cpu on a non overclockable board
Incorrect. Have the 4790K on the AsRock H97 Pro4 and I can OC it just fine
>>
>>51626990
going with this one

http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16814121929
>>
Right, order is in. Thanks again /g/, you really saved my bacon.
>>
>>51626890
That Cooler Master is a bitch to install if you're a rookie.
>>
I went for a i5-6500 + Asrock H170 Pro4, it's pretty good
>>
>>51627187
Hah yeah, it really is, bitch cut me up real good
>>
>>51627294
Same here. I don't recommend it. Just use the stock fan.
>>
>>51627328
It IS a good cooler though, glad I installed it, my temps are really nice
>>
>>51627337
I personally don't think it's worth the money or hassle. The difference in sound and temperature was not worth it.
>>
>>51627134
I hope you didn't went full retard and bought a SSD instead of a better GPU.
>>
>>51625824
>>51625824
Get a g3258 and bump your gpu up to a 390.
Then get an i5 4460 on sale when they're being cleared out.
