It is pretty good for reading e-mail, browsing, and virus infestations. I also love how it upgrades itself without asking. Wish I had the source for it. I doubt I could improve it though.
What's the future of Windows?
It's inevitable that we will not be able to use Windows 7 forever. Newer software will gradually stop supporting it and then we're stuck. What if this botnet stuff is the new norm for all future Windows OSes?
As much as I would love to jump ship to Linux I need Windows because the software I use only runs on Windows, and I'm not talking about games. Multisim, orCAD, and other such programs are Windows only. Even if there are similar programs available on Linux they are almost always inferior and not suitable for use in an enterprise setting.
So what do we do? I can only hope that someone manages to find a way to de-botnet Windows 10 and up and we can apply some kind of patch or something to disable those features but who the fuck knows, it may never happen.

I uninstalled the update itself and disabled it in updates before caving and using the program to make sure I got rid of anything that Windows might have preemptively downloaded (which it did)
