* Nexus because of updates, unlocked to carriers, and good value
* Samsung because of pure performance even despite touchwiz, also best cameras
* Motorola for being near stock, good value, reliable phones that are also unlocked
* LG for still offering removable batteries and SD card slots
* Oneplus if you want decent phones, but don't care if you get warranty support
* Firefox fx0 for $60, it's the ultimate poorfag phone.

We need other brands up there for good values, but I don't know much about the Chinese brands.

What's the deal with Redmi, Huawei, etc. ?
>>
I'm the Moto G question guy from the last thread, asking if the Moto G worked with Verizon.

My new questions are:

>Is the Nexus 5x worth it being $80 off?
https://store.google.com/product/nexus_5x

And
>Is the Nexus 5x compatible with Verizon?
>>
>>51622929
I don't know much about those either but I'll look into it a bit if I have time.

Are we only adding phones that have good price/performance ratios or just decent phones in general?
>>
>>51622948
Yes the 5x is compatible with Verizon, but it's a pain in the ass to activate unless you've already got a nano sim card (unless Verizon has changed the activation process for nexus devices). $300 probably is a good deal, but I just want to warn you that the 5x has disappointed many people with how slow the multitasking is on it.
>>
>>51622948

Nexus 5x works with Verizon, yes. They'll act like bitches when you try to get it a sim for it, but yes, it works.

It's a great deal, but you will want to turn off encryption. Not sure if you have to root it to do that or not.

>>51622964
We're not gonna add just tons of brands, and I'm betting that LG could come off that list if they take away the SD card slots of removable batteries. You might as well buy a Samsung if that changes.

Well fuck, I'm stuck between buying the Moto G or the Nexus 5x.

Gotta decide by tonight before the 5x goes off on sale. Which one is better if I'm getting it under Verizon?

Thanks for the help guys, especially on such short notice. I'm very new to the smartphone scene and I want to start it off right by getting advice from the pros.
>>
>>51623034
No problem anon. Even with the price difference I'd go for the 5x, unless you're really strapped on cash. It isn't flagship level but it is definitely better than the moto g.
>>
>>51623034
The Nexus 5x looks like has to have a different bootloader in order to not have encryption.

If you don't mind doing that, I'd get the 5x.
>>
Are tablet questions welcome, too?
I'm looking for the most dirt-cheap chink tablet possible that won't crap out on me. I just need it to be reliable and cheap.
>>
>>51623103
Samsung tablet of some sort. My mom still has a two year old super cheap crap samsung tablet that works fine.
>>
>>51623103
As much as I like Android phones I really see no benefit in buying an android tablet. The ui sucks and there's no added functionality. You can do almost exactly the same things on a large phone as a tablet.
>>
>>51623109
Is $50 about the cheapest I can get?
>>
>>51623054
>>51623088

I'll trust you guys and get this 5x. Thank you so much!!
>>
>>51623127
So Windows tablet?
>>
>>51623147
No problem anon. Hope everything works out for you and you like it!
>>
When are the nvidia gpus price dropping? Anyone know the date?
>>
>>51623127
But do they make large phones with parts shitty enough to be as cheap as a small tablet can be?
>>
>>51623147
Just be aware that some people are reporting lag on the 5x because of the forced encryption

You may also want to consider the Nexus 6 for 349 on Amazon
>>
>>51622929
>What's the deal with Redmi, Huawei, etc. ?
Huawei is a big Chinese company.

Redmi is the name of a line of Xiaomi phones, Xiaomi being bigger (number 3 worldwide in terms of device sales) than Huawei in the mobile phone business.

There are quite a few more Chinese brands. Lenovo (owns Motorola Mobility now), HTC, and like pic related.
>>
>>51623159
Depends what you're using it for, but I wouldn't consider buying another Android tablet after my nexus 10. Don't get me wrong, its a great tablet, but it doesn't do anything I can't with my moto x pure.

>>51623174
I'm not sure, but there might be some chink phones from huawei or xiaomi that are Samsung knock offs with large screens
>>
>>51623184
Man I forgot about ZTE, there for a bit it seemed they might rise out of the prepaid phone market

>>

I wanted the Moto G because I don't want to break the bank on phones. I don't *need* a ton of functionality like video streaming and gaming, I just wanted a good modern smartphone that has a moderately nice camera and apps and shit.

>>51623164
>>51623183
Oh god, wait - 16 GB or 32 GB?
>>
>>51623222
Well yes, but I was wondering if there was a specific site /g/ liked to use to get its chinkware.
>>
>>51623189
The Nexus 10 was what, 3-4 years ago?

A lot has changed since then.

You actually have tablet optimized apps now, thank goodness. It used to indeed be super fucking shit.

>>51623227
32gb Nexus 6 on Amazon for 339ish yeah.
>>
>>51623235
If swappa sells those phones that's a great site. Other than that I'm not sure. Maybe amazon?
>>
>>51623255
No for the Nexus 5x, not the Nexus 6
>>
>>51623255
>a lot has changed since then
Has it really? I still bear people complain about inefficient use of space on tablet ui. And what can I do on a tablet that I can't do on a phablet?
>>
>>51623235
Gearbest and everbuying are the two websites I have heard of, pretty sure they are legit.
>>
>>51623273
Do you store lots of apps, pictures, and songs on your phone? The 16gb variant will probably come with around 8 or 9 usable gb.
>>
>>51623197
Well, this is even just some of the companies.

There's also Elephone, Doogee, LeTv, and so many other minor players.

Taiwan is a Chinese island, unless you're living in one of 22 small nations that believe it's a country on it's own:
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Political_status_of_Taiwan#Position_of_other_countries_and_international_organizations

The majority view including all of the west's (including that of the USA, if you live there) is essentially that it is a semi-autonomous region of China, but China no less. Not a separate country.
>>
>>51623321
Whether or not the US and western countries recognizes it as an independent state doesn't matter. It functions by itself and is basically it's own country. There's a different culture, dialect, etc in Taiwan.
>>
>>51623288
really the only thing a tablet does better would be movies, youtube, and the few tablet optimized apps that it makes a difference on, like games.

>>51623321
Don't be pedantic. They don't share a government with China, and haven't for 70 years. Taiwan is known for making better stuff than the Chinese mainland. They have different laws, different trading relationships, and whatever the PRC wants to consider it doesn't matter.
>>
>>51623308
No. I'd store a fair amount of pictures, but I don't use it for music. I'd use mostly snapchat and perhaps some useful apps instead of games and entertainment things.

I think the 5x is what I want.

It's formally the same country to almost everyone.

What culture they have and whether they're semi-autonomous or even mostly autonomous doesn't matter. There are also some partly autonomous indian-governed parts of the USA that are part of the USA, and Hong Kong in China, and so on. It's just China anyways.

Happens in many places.

What are you going to do with them? I've thought of buying super cheap android phones and using them for very dedicated purposes.

-Mount one to your front door and use it as a video intercom (have it initiate a two-way video chat over wifi)
-Mount another in your bathroom to use as a radio while in the shower
-Make one a server
-Another to just serve as an mp3 player and/or perhaps connect it to your sound system to always serve as the hub for your music library

I could go on forever.

First I'm going to experiment with PerkTV and be absolutely astounded if it works and these phones pay me $100 a month just for the privilege of existing in my house.

Then I've got a MOGA bluetooth controller that requires me to reconfigure my Galaxy S3 keyboard every time I want to use it which is such a pain in the ass that I never bother - I might use one of the Moto's as a full time emulation rig.

Then I'm going to learn how to flash ROMs and customize launcher features, which I've always been afraid to do with a device that I actually need.

Then I'm going to feel remorse for paying $150 for a Galaxy S3 last year because it's not so far superior to the Moto E that I wouldn't have just used that at my main phone if I had access to one at the time.

Owned 3 Nexus 6 so far and all of them had burn in. Also owned several amoled devices before and they had burn in as well.

Anyone saying their amoled device doesn't have burn in is a lying fag.

Each individual pixel contains sub pixels. The more you use it the more they turn off/on. They all get dimmer at a different rate.

Look at my screenshot for example, the black part near the top has developed burn in because the pixels aren't used. Except the burn in is caused by the lack of usage.

I have burn-in on my old as fuuuuuck Samsung Captivate (AT&T version of Galaxy S1). The burn-in is real, however the lifespan of phones make it irrelevant.

It's like batteries. It is 100% fact that our precious lithium-based batteries lose capacity pretty quickly in the grand scheme of things, but by the time it gets so bad the phone is unusable, generally you're going to want to get a new phone anyway, unless you got some super ghetto ass phone with a shit-tier battery that loses half its ability in a year.

Hong Kong also is clearly part of China, despite also having cultural differences and semi-autonomy.

Look, that's just how it is. That they're not all happy fluffy bunnies with each other is their problem, but China is China. Seriously, even both major political entities involved (the governments of the PRC and the RoC region) hold it to be so.

It's not like Kosovo or Bosnia where the ones in control of the territory clearly state they seceded, and they get powerful international backing (basically the whole "west" and more) on that end.

>>51623643
You should do that yourself, I think - your opinion goes against the usual view in the UN and so on. Either way, it's probably pointless to debate this further, unless you want to consider companies as the achievement of political entities, rather than to indicate the country where they are located in.

Idiot. You're spouting off definitions of what a country is that have no bearing on whether a nation actually exists or not.

Just because the UN decided to invite the PRC to represent China at the UN doesn't mean that Taiwan isn't a separate nation.

It's not the PRC. It's a separate country with a separate military, separate government, an elected president, a different parliament...

you'll have to go over that one for me.

V10 has a 6 core CPU based on a 20nm process and adreno 418

Note5 has an 8 core CPU based on a 14nm process and Mali T760MP8

Both have 4GB of RAM, but the note5 is LPDDR4 instead of LPDDR3 like the V10, this means the note5 RAM is faster and uses less power

I could go on, but on paper, the hardware of the note5 is CLEARLY superior to the V10, that's not even a contest you can try to make an argument for. Unless you argument is for a specific hardware feature such as removable battery or mSD slot, in which case, not everyone needs that shit, just because you do doesnt mean we all do.

That's actually what it means, and it was made pretty explicit on multiple occasions.

It did for instance make it explicit in pic related as resolution, and did not essentially redraw the world map.

And as statement of the UN general secretary in 2007:
> Membership is given to a sovereign country. The position of the United Nations is that the People's Republic of China is representing the whole of China as the sole and legitimate representative Government of China.

And so on. It's the UN position, and the one of most of the world anyways. [That doesn't mean the west hasn't threatened to go bonkers if China might forcefully want to resolve its internal dispute there - kinda to both parties involved, actually.]

Depends on the phone.

On most Xiaomi, you usually grab a root.zip, point the updater or recovery (usually power + vol up on a powered off device to get here) at it, and flash.

Then you enable the root rights prompt in the stock security manager, or install supersu or whatever if you prefer to use exactly that, like on other devices.

I am from America, and I have visited Hong Kong, Taiwan and Mainland China. I honestly don't even understand why you are continuously posting about what the UN recognizes when that isn't even what OP was talking about. For all intents and purposes Taiwan's economy, and industry by extension, developed autonomously and separately from Mainland China, hence OP mentioning the distinction. I honestly thought only someone with a nationalistic stake (hence being from mainland China) would try to make this an argument about semantics that have no relevance to the thread. Anyways this is going to be my last post on this topic because I am just repeating myself and I have no idea why you are saying what you are saying.

The US government signed the Taiwan Relations Act in 1979, that formalized our relationship with Taiwan as distinct from our relationship with the PRC. The US maintains the American Institute in Taiwan as our de facto embassy there. As part of the TRA, we are obliged to supply Taiwan with weapons, ostensibly to defend itself against the PRC. Most importantly, most Taiwanese and most Americans don't consider Taiwan part of China.

Most countries only recognize China officially because it's a condition for doing business there. Most of the world is waking up to China's bullshit sovereignty claims too, which will become obvious when the UN rules on the Philippine case against China over your claims in the South China Sea.

Tl;Dr. The world doesn't give a shit about China except for the money we can make from you. A communist country will never have the respect of the free world.

I only indicated the country HTC factually is from, and that's just China, the country.

You are the ones that insist on making distinctions related to political entities / regions of China, which are irrelevant when simply mentioning the country of origin as usual.

I don't really care to make this an issue of some alleged nationalism of yours either. All this ad hominem and nonsense flies in the face of reality.

I bought a Nexus 6 during Amazon's Black Friday sale. Seems like a pretty nice phone so far, but the Marshmallow update isn't available for some reason. I did some Googling and it looks like it's pretty easy to unlock the bootloader and install it yourself, but I'm having second thoughts after reading a thread linked in the last thread http://forum.xda-developers.com/nexus-6/general/repairing-nexus-6-marshmallow-6-0-t3241976

I've found numerous tutorials and videos on the subject that don't mention this at all. Maybe it only happens if you follow those instructions for unlocking and rooting if you're already on Marshmallow. Can anyone confirm? Basically, I'm looking for some (hopefully true) accounts where someone used a guide while still on Lollipop to unlock the bootloader and flash Marshmallow without anything horrible happening. I was thinking about using the one one gottabemobile (I'd post the link but who knows what'll get you autobanned these days).

It actually does. That resolution was passed.

I already pointed out I'm not Chinese?

Also, yes it doesn't. That situation also isn't resolved in detail yet, as are many other maritime borders - they will almost certainly still a pain for the UN for decades to come. How is this again related to HTC's country of origin, though?
>>
>>51625107

Yeah I might later. I've heard good things about it for years, but lately I've been seeing people say it's buggy. This is my first Android device anyway, so I want to spend a week or two or four with stock to see what it's like, and then root it and install CM or something else if I think I'll prefer them. I'll probably end up rooting it one way or the other since it sounds like there are some nice apps that require root.

It does not need a resolution, this was fully the status quo when the resolution in >>51624530 was passed. They said China. Not "mainland China minus the region now designated to be Taiwan". Hey, my friend just inherited a Nexus 4 with Kitkat on it. I want him to experience the joys of Lollipop, but I read a review that said battery life takes a hit when you go from 4.4.4 to 5.1 on that phone. Can anyone confirm or refute this?
>>
>>51625758
Well I have it right now. What do you mean by play around? I don't plan on rooting it.

Battery is very good, which is what I was looking for since my old phone was a N4. Camera is impressive too.

I like the shape and the smooth, matte, glass back. I have the folio case but I might replace it, I find it annoying. The power button fingerprint reader is hit and miss, but most of the time it works.

Stock Xperia apps are all shit, disabled all I could within the first day. They really went minimal on the skinning/bloatware though, very close to the experience on my N4.

I used Nova Launcher on it for 2 years and never looked back.

I still love that phone, I wish the new Nexus was the same thing as the 4, just with better specs. It would be the perfect phone.

But yeah after Lollipop it started to crash a lot. If I had Spotify playing music and Maps doing navigation, it would often crash. Same if I was watching some .mp4's. Mine was encrypted though, I'm not sure if that played a part in anything (I noticed when apps were updating everything came to a screeching halt, I attribute this to the encryption)

I don't even hate Samsung, I do agree that the note 5 is just the best specced phone on the market but it does have a problem with its software. But its not right to leave out other deserving phones from the general. You could probably even put a mention for the ultra cheap lumias for people looking for a good, great ux phone for ultra cheap who don't care about apps and can do basic smartphone things like view media, basic social media and browsing the internet.

>>51625939
Yeah but I think you should get it anyways, they're only like $20 max and the nexus 4 had plastic edges that gripped a lot better than the metal edges the z5 has.

Also, did you get the compact or the normal one?
>>

Ok, I'll take a look. I got the normal sized one, but not the Premium.

Trying to decide between a free upgrade to Xperia Z3 or get an iPhone to sell ($500-650) and buy a Oneplus X ($400 CAD total w/ tax and shipping)
>>
>>51626000
Relevant story.

I was researching phones before buying on on black friday. I had already settled on a carrier and an outline for the contract I wanted.

I narrowed my phone choices down to three. I notice on the website none of these phones list the storage capacity. NONE of the phones besides iPhones list the storage capacity. I call the sales line, they have no fucking clue, they transfer me to tech support, they have no fucking clue. They dick me around for 15 minutes and I can hear them reading the specs page from the carrier's website. Then I hear them reading a page outloud from GSMArena.

Hang up. Drive to a store after work. Asked the guy at the counter the same question and he looked at me dumbfounded. Took the guy 5 minutes to find a phone and read the box to tell me the storage size.

Do normal people just not give a shit about what they're spending effectively ~$800 on? Like, that's some pretty basic information you would want to know before you buy it.
>>
>>51626047
> Do normal people just not give a shit about what they're spending effectively ~$800 on?
Yes, basically. No offense intended to anyone in particular, though.

Arguably, specs are listed on almost all web sites over here, including the provider's where phones are bundled with contracts, not just stores.

But ultimately I don't think most buyers have any idea other than picking high numbers and recent-looking phones to show that they're at least as rich as their acquaintances. [Same as with the old desktop & laptop personal computers for decades now, really.]

Less than that if you ask a question like: "Which apps will you be able to concurrently run when you get this now 4x as fast 2.5x as much RAM phone that you want to pay $800 for, then?"

Yep. And for most other methods.

I guess you can still sync much of this information to Google's data kraken ("phone backup / sync" stuff) and even back up some to files without root...

Really? No way around it? Ouch.

Either way, I have the Z5, and people are still working on perfecting the root. I'm not even sure if I have an unlocked bootloader or not.
>>
>>51626518
Meh. My phone is a glorified dumbphone/mp3 player featuring occasional funposting with not so much as a rooting or youtube video to justify its hardware. I don't even have any 2FA apps because I do so little with my phone that I don't access much of anything at all. The only files I'd need to move to a new phone are the pictures that I already make a habit of backing up and the music that I already do have backed up on three different hard drives.
>>
>>51626605
> Well I'm not sure, I thought that was the general procedure for root on most phones
No. Generally you get root and/or a recovery of your choice without deleting anything.

Think I'll try fro OS X later then, it's getting a bit late and I had a small heart attack already when my phone froze on the bootloader and wouldn't respond for awhile. Though I've heard that it's hard to hard brick a Nexus device.
>>
>>51627153
>$399
Why the hell is that thing so much? It's $299 where I am.
And you should expect a good phone with a small amount of bloatware.
>>
>>51627140
Battery on mine is fine. Doesn't lag either. Digital trends is garbage.
>>
>>51627153
shit battery
shit screen
shit camera
intel mobile soc that is incompatable with some apps
battery leak everywhere
bloatware everywhere
ugly phone that looks like it's from 2006
>>
>>51627267
straya price. always +$100 minimum on burger equivalent.
>>
>>51627326
Pretty sure it would be cheaper for me to buy it and ship it to you.

>>51627323
>camera is ok for the price
>Intel SOC won't work with what apps? Important ones, or chinese flappy bird knock offs?
>Had not heard of battery leak issues
>>
Poland kurwa.
Budget: $175
Tmobile contract: Huawei P8
Phones to buy normally: Redmi Note 2 or Lumia 640 XL. Eventually something you'd recommend for that price range.
What should I buy?
>>
>>51627411
the intel soc won't work with random apps on any random update
this happened with DraStic, leaving it unusable until updated again
battery leak is part of why the battery is so shit, some believe it's because of the intel soc
>>
>>51627493
Redmi Note 2 sounds fine to me.

Fuck contracts.

Last thread I was asking whether to get a galaxy A5 or a moto g3 . Now I'm also thinking about the xperia M4

M4 and G3 seem quite similar, tho I'm not too fond of sony.

From a gut feeling, I'd go for a moto g3 but I'm really uncertain about it

Are PCI-E Wireless NICs better then USB versions?

Also is there much difference between the AC wireless technologies and the NXXX?

Only care for stability/ping with my vidya, I don't download much but maybe stream at 1080p once in awhile at best.
>>
>>51627678
G3 is god tier and has a billion custom roms and still holds up really well today.
>>
>>51627894
Theoretically yes, practically no.

> Also is there much difference between the AC wireless technologies and the NXXX?
What? You mean between 802.11ac and n? Sure. But they're kind-of complementary anyways.

> Only care for stability/ping with my vidya, I don't download much but maybe stream at 1080p once in awhile at best.
Use a cable or just deal with whatever you get despite of a maybe decent 802.11ac or n signal.

Thanks for the advice, never got any response on this for awhile with BFD and CM threads and research was yielding a "eh" outside of file transfers.

And ya I love using powerline adapters when I can, but not always an option.

>And ya I love using powerline adapters when I can, but not always an option.
Unfortunately, in my experience they aren't too often better than WLAN. And tricky to use in most houses.

YMMV, but our swiss electrical power installations are thus.

Reliable low latency kinda still is about Ethernet in CAT6/7 wires (you'll want cat6 terminals anyways, CAT7 is just solid as fuck even over longer distances).

> Thanks for the advice, never got any response on this for awhile with BFD and CM threads and research was yielding a "eh" outside of file transfers.
Hm, haven't even said much yet, but no problem so far.

There are quite many. Mi4C or Redmi Note 2 are the ones that I've been suggesting quite a few times... but note these do not have overlap on US FDD-LTE bands if you're there.

There's also the OnePlus X, and then quite a bunchfrom Meizu over Huawei to even the not so huge / famous (but not really poor reputation) Doogee / Elephone / LeTv or whatever - there is quite a lineup of options.

Ah and kinda Motorola too, now that they belong to Lenovo.

>Taiwan is a Chinese island
Wtf am I reading. Do you even have any idea that the US supports Taiwan against China, who wants to annex it? How could this be even an issue if Taiwan wasn't a separate country?

It's like Russia wanting to annex Ukraine, because hurr it once was part of Soviet Russia.
>>
>>51625880
Thing is PRC was recognised as the only China because they have more influence and power in the UN to make everyone vote in its favour. Simple as that. Don't think the UN is some kind of neutral authority over what individual states interests actually dictate.

And since there were very few who had an interest to fuck with China over such a small issue, of course China got its way.

They are basically right now like West Germany and East Germany, except that the Communists took the biggest chunk of the country and managed to get it recognised by the rest of the world, whereas the smaller and older republic had to live as a de facto separate state, but without a recognised status.

So, for all practical purposes Taiwan functions as a state, even though it has a contested status (because China's power could do that).

You can compare that with Palestine, which is also not a state, but since there were actually some countries which had an interest to support them to become a state, they gained more support at the UN.

See, if you have political support, you can make you own country and have it recognised, if not, you're getting screwed by more powerful states, even though you might be right in your claim.
>>
>>51628883
The USA does not recognize Taiwan as a nation, has no formal diplomatic ties (it's a cultural center or some shit, not an embassy), and sticks with the UN resolution declaring the PRC as the sole rulers of China, including Taiwan.

The United States of America does not support Taiwan's Independence.

Can be easily read on WP, but maybe this link is more telling:
http://www.state.gov/r/pa/ei/bgn/35855.htm

So basically, you're poorly informed.

>>51629007
Surely also that. It's usually the reason why national entities get their way. Guess what, they're still getting it, so Taiwan is just part of China the country by definition. No matter how you look at it.
>>
Taiwanese people consider themselves as Chinese. The population is 98% ethnically Chinese. Culturally and ethically it's a Confucius nation like China. Everybody speaks Mandarin and writes in simplified Chinese.

If it looks like a duck, swims like a duck, and quacks like a duck, then it probably is a duck.
>>
>>51629007
About Palestine:
Huge difference. All but 9 nations of the world (namely, Canada, the Czech Republic, Israel, the Marshall Islands, the Federated States of Micronesia, Nauru, Palau, Panama and the United States of America) were in favour of putting it on par with the Holy See (plus just a few abstaining, see linkage).

And I think after the vote, only like Israel does not accept the result...?

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/File:UN_Resolution_of_Palestine_as_Observer_State.svg

Well, whatever. Far enough from the original topic. That HTC is in fact a Chinese company has long been shown.
>>
>>51629471
>If it looks like a duck, swims like a duck, and quacks like a duck
what if it's a mallard?
>>
>>51629505
Mallards are the genderqueer equivalent of ducks
>>
>>51629475
No, it's not. Taiwan, de facto, is separate and has a separate economy. Therefore, Taiwanese companies are not Chinese, in the sense that there is only one China, the Communist China. The old Republic of China basically took refuge on a small island and became, de facto, a separate state, even though officially very few countries recognise it.

But the truth is: Beijing has no authority whatsoever in Taiwan, Chinese law does not apply in Taiwan, Chinese economic policy does not apply in Taiwan, if you send or buy some goods from Taiwan, postal offices don't mark it as if it's going in China, they mark it as if it's going in Taiwan, etc.

Not to mention different culture, mentality. Did I mention Taiwan is not a Communist country, like China? So, products being made in Taiwan don't obey the same laws as your cheap, subsidised chinkshit that you call Xiaomi and Oneplus.

>very good build quality, metal materials
>pretty clean, unbloated and fast software with god-tier music and photo apps
>mSD slot
>very good battery life (Z3 Compact is legendary for this, easily 4 days with medium usage)
>very good cameras
>fast updates
>good and reliable customer support
>every phone is waterproof
Just because you live in Amerifagland, where (from what I've heard) Sony is pretty uncommon, doesn't mean you should ignore it. In Europe it's normal to seriously consider buying Xperia among other top-tier devices. These are very good phones and I think Z3c should be listed as /g/ approved phone for its battery life and overall a solid phone for its price. Every phone on your list has its flaws, while this one doesn't have any serious one.

ASUS mg279q IPS 144hz Freesync £450

ASUS pg279q IPS 144hz Gsync £750

What the fuck? how is this justifiable? they use the same damn panel. As someone who has literally never used vsync, is gsync really that much better an noticeable? Is it worth the extra cost?

Thanks
>>

I have an gtx980 so I wouldnt be using freesync if I got the mp279g anyway
>>

They do functionally the same thing, if you have AMD, get freesync, if you have Nvidia get Gsync.

If you have nividia but dont want to pay the extra for gsync, dont get the freesync monitor. as Nvidia doesnt support a free open source standard like freesync.
