just use latest catalyst. I reverted back when i noticed that crimson fucked up the compass rose on Fallout 4. It also made what used to be smooth mostly 60fps @1440p (after nerfing shadows, AA, and godrays), a stuttery mess. Every time i looked down fps would tank to 30... just for looking at the fucking grass. Makes it real easy to get my shit pushed in by molerats and radroaches that received crimson's blessing of bullet time

fixed it using third party software to create a fan curve(which i prefer to the default one) and honestly, even with the fan locked at 20%, my card just ran at 50 degree which is the same as before the lock.(390X)

More or less it's just a problem with how AMD Overdrive handles overclocking in relation to other GPU overclocking programs running at the same time.
Just disable Overdrive and you're golden, no problems.
Wouldn't even be surprised if AMD's fix was to just have Overdrive lock fan speeds at 60-80% if it detects a secondary overclocking program running.
First of all.. it only happens when you have msi overburner installed or some other overclocking program installed.
It conflicts with the amd new crimson driver and locks fans at 20%.
If you don't use msi overburner, then you should be fine.

im not using any other program, only this crimson software
i just wanted to know if the manual fan adjust worked, put it on manual, moved the slider back and forth a couple of times for a couple of seconds, and pressed the "reset" option to set everything to default and moved on with my life
to my surprise now every time i reboot my pc it stills stays on the last manual setting I tried which is 80%
so now rebooting or just turning on my pc now sounds like a couple of Airbus A380 trying to lift off

my bad for the sin of using a feature on the drivers that already was in the old ones but worked flawlessly before
