I'm a retard virgin so can anyone tell me what the metal and black half circles are
>>51570507
We are all retard virgins here. Some of us kissless virgins. Some with delusions about 2D waifus.
Welcome to the club senpai.

Lol thanks

Can you make a clearer picture, OP? The "black half circles" seem to be transistors, likely Mosfets (metal oxide field effect transistors)
but seriously, I can explain everything on there, just gimmie a clear photo
BJTs
>>51570576
^^I'm this fag
on closer inspection...
the orange circles are probably ceramic capacitors, the green and beige sticks with metal ends are resistors, the black half-cylinders are transistors, the metallic oval thingy in the middle is probably a crystal.
if you go up a little, there's a green board with a black dot, that's probably epoxy resin, what's under it is probably a chink chip/micro-controller
the thin metallic leads are probably jumpers of maybe cheapo fuses
>>51570576
Thanks a lot I know what most things are but what is the metal thing and I know what most stuff is but I don't have a good idea of what they do
>>51570580
BJTs are bipolar junction transistors, but sadly, those aren't used all that much nowadays. Mosfets are more common.
>>51570607
That's a lot
>>51570628
Alright thanks
>>51570611
the metallic cylinder in there is probably a crystal, which is used to reliably generate a specific frequency, which are usually then amplified and used in whatever.
here's a link to a project that makes use of a crystal in a radio amplifier turned tesla coil project.

Some knowledge of what the circuit does would help.
also again, clearer photo.
also, just to keep shit clear, I am these fags

nice satanic trips senpai
that box contains a shit ton of transistors (possibly diodes, too, if a manufacturer puts them in the same package)
OP here I have really been wanting to learn this kinda stuff for a few months but I can't find anything to teach me at all
>>51570692
Great thanks that helps a bit

Google and youtube are also your friends, don't be afraid to innovate/try new ideas, just make sure you adhere STRONGLY to *SAFETY PRACTICES* or you'll prolly die lel

Stack Exchange for electronics is nice.
Arduino forums or the like, but again, I wouldn't recommend Arduino. But it is good for getting your feet wet.
>>51570733
Awesome thanks a lot and that's what I have been using trying for months to search stuff on YouTube and google but nothing is helping especially when I don't know the names of things and I try to search what was on a circuit board and stuff like that but nothing will say

once you identify the name, google "name" + wikipedia OR "name" + explanation OR "name" + theory of operation
>>51570840
Awwww thanks so much for the links that's what I really really needed. I know to search what they do and do all kinds of research but there was just no way for me to find out the names thanks soo much
>>51570869
You're welcome senpai
also, for a beginner, I suppose those could be of help.

Also, notice that packages are not used for one thing only, for example, two thinks could look virtually identical on the outside, but be completely different on the inside, also, if you have the part name for something, for example, IRFP260, you can try googling
IRFP260
OR
IRFP260 datasheet
OR
IRFP260 specifications
which will tell you all about that that is, what its pins do, etc, etc. Be sure to make yourself used to looking at charts and reading technical documentation.
I'll lurk here and keep the thread on auto-refresh if you have any other questions

Awww omg thanks senpai I love you so much the links are great and thanks for the tips so much this has helped so much and again thanks for the tips
>>51570920
I'm not going to have any questions anytime soon but probably in the future and you were so helpful if I do need somthing in the future is there something I can ask you on like email
