I work with CV and I think it is great.
Before we had to use data banks of weirdly similar and normal looking faces if you wanted to do face detection.
Now we have much larger data sets thanks to people willingly taking a lot of pictures of themselves. And we get more obfuscation as people make weird faces and bad angles and with selfie sticks, multiple faces.
The only problem is proper tagging.

Well personally it has a lot to do with my lifestyle.
I personally think that taking photos of things instead of just looking with your eyes is a waste of time. It's much better to look, feel and experience than to try and "capture it" and re-live it later.
Things like rock concerts for instance. if you want to relive it, download the official production - rather than you're shitty mobile phone footage. I don't care how many mega-pixels your phone has, the official one looks better.
See a whale (not a fat girl) at the beach? Look at it, enjoy the beauty of nature. Don't fucking take a photo like a moron - there are far better pictures/videos taken by professions that blow your handheld camera shit out of the water.
The second things is that NOBODY gives a fuck. Nobody cares about the concert you went to, or the whale you seen or the fucking dinner your eating. nobody. At very least, nobody who matters.
Selfies are kind of worse than regular amatuer photography for the same reasons.
First of all: you're not a model. You're fucking ugly. Given the choice nobody but the people you already know want to see you. The people you DO know have already seen you, they don't care.
Second of all, professional models have makeup and use photoshop. You might think you do, but you still look like shit. Hell you probably look better in person.
Third nobody, not even your friends and family give a flying fuck what you did. They don't care if you went to a concert, or seen a whale, or stood in front of a sign. The only person who gives a shit is your mom, and she only cares that you're healthy and happy, she doesn't need to see half a dozen pictures of your retarded shit eating grin.
Finally you don't need a picture of yourself to relive a moment. Hell you shouldn't even be reliving moments. Every moment you spend "re-living" shit through photos you could be living new moments.
