/vr/ - Virtual Reality
I have a DK2 and I'm really impressed by its capabilities, but I haven't used it in over a year because last I checked there wasn't anything to do with it aside from a few crappy indie demos made in Unity.
Is there anything good for the Rift yet?

There was a Dinosaur island demo made recently. It's pretty good, in my opinion. I can't wait until vr becomes popular and actual games get made though. By that I mean games made with vr in mind, not vr tacked onto preexisting games.

Have you tried PPSSPP?
I remember it had a google cardboard option but I never actually tried it.
Wonder if it really works.
I can't believe it's been so long and we still don't have firm details on the release of any dedicated VR consumer device. The Oculus kickstarter was over three years ago!
I know it's just around the corner now but holy shit I'm tired of waiting

this

Project Ara should have been released also, but still.

There are a few full games that can be really fun especially with some specialized controlled peripherals like joystick and steering wheel.
Like various racing sims, Elite: Dangerous, etc.
Also simply watching movies is pretty fun, especially 3D ones. Far more enjoyable than on a monitor I think.

Are you kidding? There's software that lets you turn non-VR games into VR game (Vorpx is the most popular) and shit like virtual theaters for watching anime.
>>51558998
And don't forget that you can emulate a large screen for gaming with your VR headset for games that are fundamentally not VR friendly, like third person games.

Prepare for dissapointment when its not as great as you think it will be
clunky, unwieldy, stupid, uncomfortable, not much fun etc

> There's software that lets you turn non-VR games into VR game (Vorpx is the most popular)
They are shit though. A VR game should be built for VR, otherwise it's a nightmare of sim sickness and weird flaws.

Nah I'm pretty sure I know approximately how it will be, I've owned the DK1 and DK2.

Having a large, virtual screen is probably one of the best aspects of a VR headset for me. I tried it with cardboard for a bit and it was great, though the resolution sucked.

This nonsense has been around the corner for fucking ever.
Why can't these retards realize when you start to make people wait a decade hype dies down?
Whatever
>>51559132
Literally going to be out in a few months.

HTC vive limited release is Q4 2015 with full release Q1 2016
Oculus CV1 is due Q1 2016 as well

PPSSPP works, Wipeout is pretty fun in VR.
So how is VR porn? Has anyone ever tried it? I hear it's supposed to be a big deal but it's hard to find people that have actually tried it out.
And is vr porn supposed to be less graphics intensive than playing a game? As in, can people get away with running a cheaper GPU if all they plan on using it for is porn and say minecraft?

I hear it's pretty good. However, I am worried about if someone walks in while I'm going strong. If you could rig some sort of system that would warn you whenever a door opens, and then sell it, I think you could make a lot of money.
