/MCG/ - Mail Client General

Have you guys tried N1? Pic related from their site.

Been using Geary since I have gnome 3.18, and it's alright so far, not missing Thunderbird yet, but didn't really do much beyond reading mail, no signing and shit.

I have not but I'll look into it. Kind of interested in using a mail client again but all the ones I remember using are worse than the web ones somehow.

>That’s Node (V8) and Electron (Chromium and all its dependencies) for you! Should this be a shared library? Yes we hope eventually!

I'm not going to encourage this sort of degeneracy anon.

yeah forgot i heard something about imap when n1 was in a beta.

I guess it looks good, but not worth getting yet, if ever.

wow this is slow as fuck. While the ui solutions are good the experience is crappy because of poor responsiveness.

Apple Mail is excellent, it's got support for GPG signing and it's very stable. Exchange works as well if that's your thing. On OS X there isn't much point to using these alternative clients. Though I find they are still popular with people because of the shiny UI.

N1 actually looks promising though because of it's extensibility. It could be the "Atom" of e-mail. That said, Electron is simultaneously awesome and shit. It has serious power management issues, causing it to draw almost as much battery as Chrome. I will reserve judgement until it fully releases.

When I used Debian I ran with Thunderbird. Which is a complete turd to say the least. Evolution actually seemed pretty decent. Very mature software, nothing fancy but it integrated well with GNOME.

Geary was still in it's infancy when I tested it, looked nice, but a bit useless. Then they had that failed indiegogo fund and now 2015 they still haven't implemented PGP support.

All in all e-mail is a necessary evil. I cannot wait till the day it dies. It sucks.

I use Mutt+OfflineIMAP.

Becky! user here, there is no such thing as better e-mail client. Fast, intuitive, configurable and has lots of features.

I use icedove on my desktop and thinkpad, which run debian. It's not the best, but it gets the job done. I have an older macbook that runs apple mail, and it isn't too bad.

not everyone wants to live completely off the grid anon.

i just don't want to use webmail, still want access to my emails.

So how is this better than Mail.app besides being prettier? It's based on all this web shit so it probably sucks battery.

>Mail.app

All aplications in OSX end in .app

>tfw still using Windows live mail
It works well, although the UI is starting to show its age.
