Looks fine for your needs.

Oh nice, a PC build thread.
I'm planning to build an HTC based on an AMD A8 7600. Is it going to be enough for HEVC playback and playing 10 year old games? Which case and PSU would you recommend?
>>
>>51509781
If it's going to be for those purposes perhaps a mini ITX build. I'm not very familiar with those parts. However you should aim for 2400 or at least 2133MHz DDR3 ram, and a motherboard that supports it. Ram speed matters a tremendous amount for APUs.

That APU uses

Uses 65W therfore a 400/450W PSU from a good brand that's 80+ bronze or better will do just fine. You can also opt for a 550/600 if you want to protect yourself in the event you want to add a dedicated GPU (maybe pass one down from an old PC when you upgrade)

Thanks. A Corsair CX430 it is, then.

Corsair CX series is mediocre. See if you can find a good EVGA piece in the price range. If not the Corsair just werks

Swung by yesterday to have an anon scream at me to replace my entire computer.

Just asking if someone can have a look at this setup and give constructive criticism: http://au.pcpartpicker.com/p/gvgdLk

The case i am interested in wasn't on the site, but its name is antex gx500.
I also already have acceptable storage, the only thing i have kept up to date on my old machine.
>>
>>51510459
1080p isn't future proof nigga. I'll get to it in around 15 minutes when I get home
>>
>>51510429
I don't understand why people keep buying a more expensive GPU than they need. I have a 970 and it's doing a fine job at 1080 in all games. I had solid 60fps in fallout 4 and I've had higher than that in all other games I've played. "Future proof" is a meme.

Isn't the FX6300 like 90 bucks right now?
>>
>>51510721
Not when you're used to strictly laptop gaming and trying to sculpt on 2ghz Cpu with 1gig of V ram
>>
>>51510581
It is since I do not need nor require anything above it. Shit, 1080 should be called 2k anyway.
>>
>>51510721
But my new monitor is 2560 x 1080 and a 780 is not enough for all maxed out (low aa), a 970 doesn't seem like a decent upgrade.
>>
>>51510429
Forgot about you sorry.

>3D
What do you mean? 3D VR gaming, 3D modeling? What kind of 3D modeling? Simple artistic stuff or serious stuff like ANSYS?

>Dev
As in coding software or as in video game development via tools like Unreal Engine? Or some other type of development altogether?

Do any of your programs benefit from the use of CUDA or OpenCL?
>>
>>51510721
Your single 970 is not enough for all games. Stop kidding yourself. Did you try playing The Vanishing of Ethan Carter's Unreal Engine 4 release with all settings maxed out? Yeah, your 970 can't run that shit.
>>
>>51509442
Get an i-5 at-least.
>>
>>51510525
Australia prices are murder.

Don't get 4x4GB sticks. Why take up all your RAM slots? Get 2 sticks with 8GB each. That way you can add more in the future in the case that you need to.

Your PSU isn't showing a price so I can't compare to anything else.

Do you have an SSD? You NEED an SSD. No way around it. Even if you have enough hard drives laying around you still need a fucking SSD. Samsung 850 EVOs tend to be cheap and great.

How much are you paying for the case?
>>
>>51511955
He doesn't really NEED an SSD. It's nice to have, but it's not an absolute must. Especially if you haven't lived with SSDs before, you can do just fine without one.

I still have no SSD on my laptop and I do just fine, I only want to kill myself a couple times when using it, but I can generally deal with it.

My bad, was busy.

3D Modeling, some simulation and hard and organic modeling

Unreal Engine esque

I think OpenCL
