Of course it's gonna fucking burst. There's no way that's sustainable.

Adblocking itself will take out half of them. The rest are trying to fight over peoples' attention from the bigger names like Fagbook.

Half of the recent brands are solid business solutions that make actual money and provide actual solutions.

No burst, just uninformed NEETs.

The fuck man
Look at the valuations
We are in the smoke selling phase to investors
People are investing by FOMO
>>
It probably is going to burst.
But when?
dunno
But the recent round of IPO's of unicorns all went for the lowest end of share prices, so we are probably already seeing a decline starting.
Maybe its just going to be a slow deflate, instead of a big burst?
But as long as there is still money to be made from "unicorns", there will always be some.
It only sucks that you cant get in as a normal investor early enough.
When they are going for the IPO, its mostly to late for insane-money-out-of-nothing, except for the few companies that will become a real company, and exist for many years to come.
>>
>>51503101
Still doesn't change that some of those brands have been around for more than a decade.
And as long as they provide a real service for real money, there will be no burst.

But those stupid useless apps like Snapchat will probably fail sooner or later.
>>
>>51503155
Even the stupid useless apps will stay. They won't suddenly go away just because you can't become a billionaire from making one. People will make stupid apps for shits and giggles. You don't need investors for that. What will happen is that you won't see as many stupid useless apps and especially the hype around them will die if all the gullible investors looking for gold realize that there is no fucking way snapchat will ever actually be worth a billion dollars. Some of the useless apps will become hits and whoever made it will get some sweet ad/appstore money from it for the few months/years that it is popular.

And as you said the real services that actually provide something to the user are not going anywhere.
>>
It will burst, yes, in that at least the valuations are way, way off base. Some of the products are decent, many of the companies are stable and have good revenue and cashflow, but you'd think they'd learned from the dotcom era that stupid valuations only hurt investors.

[This is not investment advice. Nobody should take investment advice from 4chan. The very concept is hilarious.]

Uber? What's the intrinsic value? Tell me more.
>>
>>51503354
>provide taxi like service for cheaper than taxis
>be the middle man and organize everything for the customer and driver
>handle the money transaction to make it safer for everyone
>take x% of each transaction as commission
>potentially hundreds of millions or even billions of users
What exactly is unclear here?
>>
>>51503458
I'm wondering what prevents another competitor to just ask x-1% commission.
>>
>>51503512
You need to face the biggest most well known competitor in the market that people already trust daily.
Not going to happen
>>
>>51503458
That's a generic business model. They're running into regulatory hurdles at home and in foreign markets. My question is - "What's the intrinsic value of the business?"
Apart from the tech platform, they've absolutely nothing.

No, that's just a temporary influx of popularity. An app with a friendlier user-interface, more customizability, a way to back shit up (Line is shit compared to whatsapp in that regard), some celebs making it popular, and there you go, into le myspace limbo it goes.

> Delusional hipsters believe it will go global

This so much.

Half these services are overpriced as fuck but San Fran Fags and Silicon Valley hipsters have no clue how much a dollar is actually worth.

It reminds me of that stupid fruit drink chain that went belly up in NY recently because they charged $10 for a glass of juice.
>>
>>51505649

that's every juice shop in NYC bro

it's ridiculous
>>
>>51505672

Basically, City folk are stupid.
>>
>>51505057
>all that curry
>>
The thing is, a lot of these apps and services basically do the same thing, all competing for a slice of their market. In most cases, there's almost no difference between them. Sometimes, they're literally clones of each other.

It's going to crash hard, but the ones that actually provide value will survive.

Therefore I ask this, apart from the tech, which is valued astronomically, what's the intrinsic value of the business?

Flipkart, Snapdeal aren't curry Amazon, they're the curry Amazon and eBay respectively
eBay even has investments in Snapdeal
>>

Only one will survive, just leave it some time. Exactly like only one fastfood chain exists in the whole world, one car manufacturer, one OS, one ISP, one brand of cereal.

They're redundant anyway because Amazon.in and Ebay.in exist.

0% money for the last 8 years. This isn't just tech. The entire S&P 500 has no net return for 2015. There's price multiples are as high as they can be and it's this effect >>51503606 as everybody looks for the next big thing. The equity shares are illiquid and the market is shallow.

That said, I don't necessarily expect a "pop", but this is probably the worst time to organize your life around a start up life. Doing CS and moving to Silicon Valley is dumb at this point. Getting investors is about as easy as it can be and life will only get worse by the time you know your head from your ass in 3 years.

Companies pay to be on that feed shit that nobody reads. They probably sell traffic data even if it's anonymous. And can't you know buy re-views of disappeared content?
