dell-xps-13-2015-g04.jpg
82 KB, 775x500
Been looking around and I can't seem to find the holy grail of laptops. Can nothing run linux (with little to no hassle) and have a screen larger than fucking 1366x768 to actually be able to do something on, have good battery life, and not besome fuck heug 2 inch thick 10lb brick? There's Dell xps 13 developer edition, is literally the best there is?
>>
no the literally 2015 Macbook is literally better
>>
>>51500314
And it's like $1400
>>
You know you can install linux on most laptops right? You dont need it preloaded
>>
>>51500350
I realize that but I hear a lot of laptops can be finnecky with linux unlike some models like thinkpad or latitudes
>>
Trust me on this one, Carbon X1 2015. I was in the same boat not to long ago, I've used them all, rmb, Razer Blade (recommend by linus shit tips). The carbon trumps them all. Great battery, good performance, great screen (once you remove the crappy anti glare screen protector which every reviewer is to dumb to remove), amazing keyboard and trackpad. Also the track point is crazy useful. I found a good deal on eBay for the highest spec touchscreen model for $2300 AUD.
>>
>>51500270
Also the Carbon X1 is made of Carbon fibre (which is stronger and lighter than steel) and it has a magnesium roll cage under the hood, which is dope. It's ultra light and thin and it has lte for high speed cellular
>>
>>51500270
Pixel 2, i5 edition.
There, done
>>
>>51500626
this
The pixel is the best Linux laptop because when you use crouton, it shares the same kernel so whatever Linux distro you use will have the same battery life as Chrome OS and drivers.
>>
>>51500314
I get you like that laptop, that's fine. It's not the best for Linux though, and this was one of OPs requests, so can you end yourself.
>>
>>51500534
>2300 for a laptop
>good deal
>>
>>51500660
So he suggested one with the next best thing, real unix.
>>
>>51500660
Fair enough,
I don't see how a dell xps is better
> enjoy a shit trackpad
> only 300 charge cycle's
> lastly have fun on your broken crowd fucked os
>>
>>51500680
Compared to $3500+ off Lenovos website, and MacBooks aren't much cheaper, nor is the dell xps.
> Poor fag
>>
>>51500652
I love the idea of the chromebook, but the hardware really does not justify the price.

Again, im saying this without any emphasis on the OS, the hardware is not worth the price
>>
>>51500715
>3500 dollars for a fucking laptop
Poor fucking fag indeed. Who actually buys this shit?
>>
>>51500730
> People with money
>>
>>51500683
The funny thing is osx is almost nothing like aix, Solaris, hpx, or any of the other unixs. It's just a shitty branding they paid for and then forgot to include most of the useful utilities.
>>
>>51500726
what exactly is to love about "the idea of a chromebook"

be hampered to a 1 single proprietary web browser adware from the worlds largest advertising corporation, and not able to do more than go on facebook? yea that sounds fun. doesnt even have a caps lock key
>>
>>51500730
Look at the chromebook pixel and you'll see
>>
>>51500748
>enough money for a summer in another country
>facebook machine instead
Either loaded as Trump, or stupid.
>>
>>51500785
I googled it, saw it, closed the tab because it was really ugly.
What about it other than it sort of looks like a macbook?
>>
>>51500726
My i7 model is absolutely worth the 1300 I paid for it.

USBC, touch screen, ultra high resolution, 16gb ram, 12 hours on time, 2 weeks standby. It's literally the best device for the money on the market, and the aluminum body happens to be sleek as fuck.
>>
>>51500270
Literally any non-shit laptop above $500 is what you're looking for.
>>
>>51500789
I've met lots of bussinessmen who use them. Not loaded like Trump, but comfortably wealthy.

Me, I'm fine with my X230.
>>
>>51500350

but when you have a meme touchpad and two gpus and no wifi drivers it gets a bit annoying to set things up
>>
>muh thinness

Manlet pls learn and pls go
>>
>>51500660
literally baited by the literally meme

>>51500270
get the xps. thunderbolt 3 external graphics are on the way.
>>
>>51500799

Well it's a better looking version of a macbook so there's that. The aspect ratio on the display is also better. I'd rather a pixel over a macbook any day.
>>
>>51500680
That's AUD shitface, around $1650 USD
>>
>>51500270
Honestly, just get the Ubuntu version of the XPS 13. Save yourself the headache if trying to find drivers and shit. You'll know this will work.
Also, the screens on the 13 are really good, even the 1080 ones.

You can just buy more and install yourself. Why is this so hard for you?
>>
I am SICK of this fucking CHICLET bullshit.
>>
I got a t450s the other day. Holy shit the keyboard feels nice compared to the other modern laptops. I get 10 on battery life right now, debating whether to get a 6 cell battery.
>>
>>51501728
Why should I have to?
>>
>>51501728
When you're already paying $1300 for a laptop, you should expect at least 128gb of ssd storage, if not more.

>>51501664
Anyone can use the cloud. Doesn't matter if you have 20 TB, or 32 GB. You're just putting yourself at a disadvantage for no reason.
>>
>>51501743
Unfortunately, only certain business laptops and gaming laptops have normal keyboards these days. The best I've used that isn't chicklet on a laptop, is, rather surprisingly, the alienware m14 or 15 xs (can't remember the size).

Honestly, sucks to be you man. I've gotten used to chicklet, so I don't mind it one bit. You're in for a tough time e adapting, or looking for something that fits your needs.

Also, blame Sony, they started it lol
>>
>>51501764
When I bought my laptop, I saw they would rip me off by getting a ssd.
So I got the cheapest solution and upgraded it myself. Now I have an extra which comes in handy if I should use windows a weekend to play games with friends.
>>
>>51501764
Even when you look past muh privacy, the cloud itself is really a hassle if it's not for school or community-based work. It sucks using half of your ssd for the OS, ides, photoshop, and other necessary applications people use. Also, you have to be on wifi at all times.
>>
>>51500270
XPS 15
>>
>>51500534
This, for 1500. Its great
>>
>>51500534
I have one and the only thing I don't like about it is the screen. Can you provide details on how to remove the antiglare coating?
>>
>>51500772
keep shitting out memes m8
>>
I don't know your price point or how heavy your work will be but you could look the toshiba chromebook 2. fullhd ips screen, tho the specs are mediocre. (the U processor one, not the n)
