My gaymen desktop has an EVGA 750B. (I forget why I chose this model, I've had it for a few years) My server has an EVGA 600B (I got it because a coupon code and a rebate meant I got a half-decent 600W unit for all of $25) I'm planning on using an old ITX system as a pfsense box, it'll get an Antec 620W, because I had it sitting around. I've previously used a Sparkle 550W unit (which I still have. It's loud as hell, but it's built like a tank and still works great) and a PCP&C 500-something model. Not a Silencer, the other vanilla one that they made in the early 2000s. For all their exalted reputation, that PSU was the only one I ever had die on me. In 2005 I came back to my college dorm to the smell of burned plastic. At least it didn't take anything with it, though.
I went to the trouble of typing all this just to say jesus fuck what I wouldn't give to have her try and smother me to death with her tits.
I used to build cheap HTPCs with cheap power supplies so I could watch movies and stuff in the living room.
Then one day that cheap power supply literally burst into flames and set the smoke detector off.

Used to have a Corsair TX650 but it was easily the loudest thing in the case after I upgraded the system at some point. I think it was the shit-OEM version with bad efficiency and fan control or something.

It's obviously not hugely powerful but it's a Seasonic OEM, Haswell compatible, and Jap caps. Working great and I can't complain.

some of the huge PSUs (in the 1500 watt range) have eight 12v rails. Some of them have a switch to combine them into a single 100+-amp rail.

If it's giving you a stable overclock and not overheating or anything it's probably fine, but if you see a good deal on a better model maybe think about upgrading, but it's probably not necessary again if your system is stable

Antec 550BP or something like that. It was cheap, and met my power draw requirements. It's audible over my CPU cooler fan, but not my case fans, so it's all good.

It's definitely quiet, I can't hear it when idle and under heavy GPU load it's the GPU that's noisy, not the PSU.

had it since 2008 or 2009 and it still works great. had a cooler master silent pro 700w during that time too. modular psus are great but a couple years back the silent pro started making a buzzing noise that got worse and worse so i swapped it out with the corsair.
