I'd recommend signing out of Google or having it auto sign out when you end your web sesh. Other than that looks good as long as you're not a dumb. Try i2p instead of tor

That was your first mistake.
I wouldn't expect any of those privacy measures to matter much considering what you're using.
If you recently just upgraded through GWX, please for the love of god go into update settings and switch back to 7/8.

minus the Install Gentoo I think all of those were helpful in their own way, the problem is you don't want to use Windows so you're going to take that suggestion as unhelpful, possibly even as antagonistic or a meme

I know that linux is better in almost every way, but I would never use it as my main OS because of the gaming thing
>>
>>51485720
Except it's not really. It's a meme
Just like Android is not better then ios in every way. You can't have that on tech it seems. More of a preference ,really. You can basically use any desktop os /mobile os and be fine. Except windows phones , fuck windows phones
>>
>>51485720
I play tons of video games on GNU/Linux. I don't really know what to tell you, man. Unless you know of specific games that aren't ported, I don't see that as a reason to stay away.

>>51485774
Man I hate this trend of pretending to be unbias and stepping on a high horse to talk down to people who prefer certain things.

It is possible for something to be better in every way. Consider the fact that GNU/Linux is also the newest major OS and has roots in motherfucking UNIX as well. I read an interesting quote the other day, it was something like "Bell Labs invented Microsoft by charging $25,000 for UNIX".

I used to use Windows myself. Grew up on it. Only dabbled in other shit a tiny bit, and never went all in until a few years ago. Now I see that Windows has done horrendous damage to the world of technology as well as to society. When most operating systems abide by standards and have a lot in common and tons of compatibility and then one comes along that doesn't at all, it'd make sense if no one used it. Unfortunately we are in a worst-case scenario where said special snowflake OS because the most popular desktop OS, and by a LOT. What this means is that tons of software doesn't work on any OS but that one. The problem only got worse over the years. Now you've got people realizing how good GNU/Linux is, but they "can't switch" because of "games" or "adobe stuff" or whatever.

I hate the public school system, but this is the sort of thing that makes me want to become a teacher and try to correct the next generation. Making everyone learn to program is something I can't really get on board with, but teaching the history of UNIX and free software and such would do a lot of good, I think. I can't believe it wasn't until late middle school to early high school that I started to catch a glimpse of the real world. The worst part is my peers and even elders remain uneducated. These are dark times.
>>
>>51486053
To think you're getting all riled up over OSs. Convert the subject over to religion... that scares me waay more.

:D>>51485774

>>
>>51486053
Wow man calm down. I was just implying that there always are some things or even one think that is done better by Windows and not Linux (adobe , gaymen) and the same applies to everything. I am not saying that it is wrong to preffer/fanboy/or even shill for one platform. I just hate when people say that the competition is way behind and should be dead

>I was just implying that there always are some things or even one think that is done better by Windows and not Linux (adobe , gaymen) and the same applies to everything

That's not Windows' doing, that's the relevant programs.

Not him, but there ARE things Windows does better (albeit not very significant). For example, superior input behavior to X11's XInput

Windows == security through obscurity. Don't blindly trust a company that has a bad track record of having a lot of vulnerabilities: http://www.cvedetails.com/vendor/26/Microsoft.html

Add HTTPS Everywhere, substitute NoScript with uMatrix, add Certificate Patrol, SSleuth, Blender, Self-Destructing Cookies, check the Do Not Track option in the browser settings, disallow all third party cookies, automatically wipe the cache when you exit the browser.

Replace your SOHO router firmware with OpenWrt. SOHO router are infamously known for vulnerable stock firmware https://sohopelesslybroken.com/

VeraCrypt hasn't been properly audited yet, use dm-crypt+LUKS instead, which you can even further secure with your YubiKey for 2FA.

Host your own SMTP and IMAP server for mailing. It's no one else's business but yours, quite literally. Consider using mutt as your MUA while your at it.

Replace stock Android firmware with CyanogenMod. Less bloat, frequent updates, gapps are optional, install F-Droid.

Isn't HttpsEverywhere useful only on wireless connection?
>>
>>51486431
No, that's a VPN. A VPN tunnels and encrypts everything, not just HTTPS traffic, which a lot of Web sites shamefully don't support yet.
>>
>>51486431
No, kills all other snooping too. (do you trust your ISP that much?)
>>
>>51486462
>>51486468
But it's useful only for privacy or for security too?
>>
>>51485196
Switch NoScript with uMatrix
Switch uBlock with uBlock Origin
Remove Disconnect, add HTTPS Everywhere
>>
>>51486543
Both HTTPS Everywhere and a VPN provide confidentiality, albeit a VPN does arguably a better job because it encrypts *all* communication, but that's not to say you should between either of them. At least use HTTPS Everywhere, but consider using a VPN on top of that, especially when you're on the move (think your mobile devices).

Privacy is something else. HTTPS Everywhere doesn't really provide you that because all intermediate parties will still know which websites you've visited due to your meta data (think of your public DNS queries you keep sending). For anonymity you should consider Tor, as a VPN means you only have one proxy in the middle before reaching your destination, as opposed to Tor which builds a global chain of proxies. This picture should clear things up slightly: https://www.eff.org/pages/tor-and-https

Windows 10 will still log all your keystrokes, collect webcam images, mic audio, and basic browser history with everything off.

You should be running 10 in a VM and xubuntu as your main.
>>
>>51485196
Unfortunately, everything you do to improve your privacy (browser, extensions, services etc.) is entirely moot because you're already fucked form the beginning for choosing Windows.
