Hey /g/ I don't usually come here that often but I was wondering if you guys think it is possible for me to take apart two of my old computers and put them into one kinda Frankenputer that could actually do stuff

Depends on what's useful in what computer.
You definitely can do that. I've done it a dozen times. You better hope one of them has a functional CPU + Mobo though.
I don't see why not. That's what I did with my server
Add ssd. Buy best cpu supporte by mobo and combine ram.

It's probable that neither computer supports SATA. An SSD wouldn't be much help.

The computers worked about a month ago and they both got windows xp. What kind of processing power do you think I could get from this?

If the motherboards are fried they're kinda useless unless you scrap them

There are IDE SSDs. I have two Advantech industrial touch screen machines at work that take them. They both had 40GB WD mechanical drives that had to be replaced multiple times due to the constant vibration of the conveyor system the PCs are mounted to. Once I put SSDs in them, they've been rock solid.
You should build a cluster server. use Gentoo.
make it calculate part of the human genome project, or seti

the only things you could possibly swap between those are the RAM and hard disks provided the first one is an earlier DDR-based model
