I have been 98% Google-free for a couple of years. The only place that I am forced to use it is 4chin (Legacy Captchas). I post here rarely, so no biggie.

this is something I'm interested in, but I realized I'm at a point in my life where I'm just too dependent on Google to go Gapps free.

Maybe if a few years when I can actually start working full time I'll be able to escape the Google botnet, but for now I'm stuck using it.

That being said, the good thing about Android is that you can get almost any app without using the play store anyway.
