How many of you use a free-as-in-freedom OS? And gentoo doesn't

Why isn't /g/ using a distro endorsed and recommended by the Free Software Foundation? Pic related.

And surely its time to change the /g/ Wiki ?? - Stallman would weep if you actually did "install gentoo". It's just not free enough..

Not many people are genuinely that autistic.

install gentoo is the dankest meme of this board mang

and these distro are fugly shite

I browse trisquel forum, is literally cancer full of freetards
>>

Is it autistic to insist on libre software in this day and age?
>>
Psyched as fuck for GuixSD. It's just new enough to be stable, and I'm not sure I'm ready for that.

the only reason stallman dislikes gentoo is because they call it gentoo linux instead of gentoo GNU/linux

>GNU/Linux

I lost.

Parabola clearly is the best for memeing.

Gentoo also maintain references to install non-free software. It's no different to Fedora in that manner.
>>
>>51444214

Only because Gentoo allows you to install software the FSF does not like/endorse.

GPL is cancer and it limits your freedom

>GPL is cancer

I suppose not all cancers are bad then.

>and it limits your freedom

We also limit the freedom of people who wish to murder others in society. Why not the same principle in the software world?

You can't just post that screenshot without giving us that wallpaper mang.
I wish I had money for a freedom box.

I use Debian. I don't actually know if I'm running any non-Free software on my CPU post-boot, because I'm using a non-Free BIOS, and it's possible it's set up some SMM routines. I have everything that I think might use them disabled but it would be very hard to prove the absence of any SMM code. Coreboot does not support my hardware. I am not running any other non-Free code on my CPU post-boot.

I also use non-Free CPU microcode, which I don't see a problem with because you're forced to use non-Free microcode in any case. Uploading it in early boot doesn't seem any different to uploading it at the factory. All modern X86 CPUs require microcode updates for reliability/security.

I also use non-Free AMD GPU firmware, running on a microcontroller on the GPU. Again, I'm forced to trust the GPU in any case so I don't see how this makes things worse. At least the drivers running on my CPU are Free. The same is true for SSD/mouse/keyboard/etc. firmware.

I would, but my laptop requires binary-blob drivers in order to get wifi working.

Then again blag (based on fedora which is what i use) is based on fucking fedora 14, almost 10 releases behind

Why can't freetards make a logo/name worth a shit?

Though GuixSD and Parabola look and sound pretty professional.

He believes that the choice of proprietary software is freedom.

distros with okay logo/name combination

That's no different than murder. By using proprietary software, he is promoting unethical practices which not only limits his freedom, but limits the freedom of others when it becomes standard.
>>
>>51445149
Those are pretty good too, I personally don't really like Fedora from that angle but it's probably just because le ebin hat joke has soiled it for me.

RHEL is reasonable as well, likewise with its derivatives like Oracle linux.
