That's because you need to purchase a Surface with HiDPI, goy!

Meanwhile GNU/Linux allows you to tweak the font rendering to your liking. Feels good to use a vastly superior OS that does not treat its users as idiots.

I don't know what you are talkink about.

Okay granted Linux renders fonts better. That alone is not enough to attract mainstream users with vast software demands and proprietary drivers that actually work.
>>
>>51439165
that's nasty

Pf, that's really the true test of a rendering engine. Everything can look good when you got a 1000k resolution because hinting etc becomes completely irrelevant

it just appears smudgy because the letters are fuller than with your rendering. the truth is, though, they look closer to what they're SUPPOSED to look (by the creator of the font).

you've just had hard-edged pixelated crap punch holes into your retina for a little too long.

No one can guarantee the outcome of torrents on any OS, that depends on how proactive you are, vpn usage, encryption and ip filter lists.

I am starting to think that torrent clients like uTorrent are actually being developed by these movie studios to trick people into downloading shit.

Yes. ClearType is beautiful, isn't it? Well, now with Windows 10 you CAN'T FUCKING USE IT ON ABOUT HALF YOUR SYSTEM. That's right, everything that uses Metro renders using anti-aliased but not subpixel rendered fonts. You know, like in Win98.

>>
>>51449056
Evidence for this? Objectively, subpixel rendering triples the horizontal resolution it can use on an LCD at native resolution, if it's set to use the correct RGB subpixel order. Subjectively, subpixel rendered text looks less jaggy than grayscale smoothed text.
>>
>>51449105
ClearType can't handle screen rotation. And greyscale rendering makes text on high DPI beautiful.

I'm gonna call bullshit on this, based on this picture of a Word 2007 textbox with ClearTyped vertical text. What is screen rotation basically but vertical text? Sure it would take a bit of framework stuff to make it work, but the technology is clearly there in ClearType itself.

>And greyscale rendering makes text on high DPI beautiful.
As would subpixel rendering. Large ClearType text is just as pretty as large grayscale, though the advantage of ClearType is far less visible.

>>
>>51449249
How is it unsuitable for rotatable screens if it can handle both vertical and horizontal? It can simply disable itself if the pixel order is unknown or something other than the usual, or DPI is high.

Even if it's not worth much on mobile, not everything is a mobile device. ClearType is still great on desktops and laptops. Especially laptops, what with 1366x768 screens being so common.

Assumming this is true, which probably isn't, why doesn't Microsoft at least allow me to set if I want a fucking mobile phone font rendering or good old ClearType on a normal LCD screen? There's no reason besides treating its users as idiots. Feels good to have switched to GNU/Linux, where at least I can adjust the font rendering, instead of using the one size fits all proprietary model.
