S5 is already confirmed for being in line for the first round of 6.0 updates, meaning they are trying to get it out in Q1 2016 to the S5. It might get pushed until Q2 since the Note5 and S6 take priority being the current flagships.
But the S5 is 100% confirmed getting 6.0

This is pretty much how it always happens, people who own the phone start freaking out because another phone was mentioned but not their phone specifically, so obviously samsung is trying to screw them over by not updating their phone.
Just be patient and stop freaking out over bullshit rumors months before any possible release is to come out anyway.

Had the N3 and N4, as well as Moto Droid x/2/bionic. If you run stock, your carrier is the real bottleneck to updates. Moto dev group was great at helping owners get updates quickly. Samsung seems to push fewer but larger updates, which is fine with me as they're typically polished.
