For more or less the same price I did a better build.
AMD GPU are simply more bang for your buck so I chose that.
The CPU is the same cause at that price point, it really is the best 4 core CPU on the market.

Looking at my build it's hilarious how someone with such a huge youtube channel made such a lackluster build for the same price I made a much better build.
Linus build uses a barebone case with a shoddy PSU and while my build pays more for using better quality case and PSU you still get the same CPU and a slightly better GPU.

I built my own PC for the first time last year but reused the RAM from my old desktop, it was 4 sticks of 2GB. Now I'm thinking of upgrading to 2 sticks of 8GB, is this going to produce meaningful differences in performance? Specifically I'm annoyed at long loading times.
I use my PC for gaming, streaming, and video recording, if that matters.

It will definitely affect performance because you will be switching to faster RAM but it wont be as huge as changing to an SSD. 1600-DDR3 RAM will probably give you around 5% more FPS. You want an SSD because it will make loading from disk extremely fast.
You can get an 120GB SSD for as low as 40 bucks. Go get it!

Sure thing that being said your location changes the prices of the parts tremendously.
But the rule of thumb is to get the most GPU performance without bottlenecking your CPU. Then get a nice OC Motherboard but don't go overboard with it unless you need a certain feature of the more expensive motherboards. Most build guides tend to waste money on either motherboards or RAM which btw just get the cheapest black colored one because it combines with any motherboard.
Case is subjective but I usually have it last because for me a case is just something that hold the parts but different people have different tastes. PSU is extremely important, many people like to gimp out on it but if you want your PC to last, then get a good PSU from a reputable brand. Always try to have a bit of headroom for OC. Modularity is another important part and depends of what you want from your machine.
And lastly the 80+ certification is imperative you get at least Bronze or higher. If your build is near the 1000 W mark, consider getting a Gold or higher because you want to save as much energy as possible.
