Thinking about trying linux as daily driver.
I have a G46vw that somehow forgot its windows OEM key windows and im not buying an other one, thinking about installing mint and SteamOS on it.
I have little experience with linux, on a raspberry pi i setup an openVPN server, L2TP server, and a BINDserver and played around with kali. Thats all the linux experience i have. Maybe i could go for arch.
So i have two questions:
1. Why should i?
2. Why shouldnt i?

my lady *tips fedora*
obviously you need to install gentoo to gain a true understanding for linux.
Arch is but a taste pseudo-hand holding is still hand holding.
You learn nothing but rice from hand holding.

Go for arch if you like to fuck around every now and then. Else just install xubuntu, opensuse or something like that
>>51433718
>mint
lol
Void, Arch, Netrunner are all better.

i have the same laptop
installed ubuntu gnome dualboot w/ windows 8 yday and werks bretty well out of the box
with the mainstream linux distros you should be able to google pretty much anything

If you want to fuck around and waste time like a NEET go for any time sink distro. If you have a job and want to utilize your hardware to its full potential, use Windows 10.
Linux will look and feel good as anything that is new does. After a while when you get tired of shitposting in desktop threads, there is not much utility and fun left.
Then you watch your friends playing games and using high end applications while you are sitting there with a box that can run games and applications from 2007 and below.

How about the Nvidia drivers? can you play games..?
>>51433903
You can game on Linux, Steam games are quite mindful of Linux and run natively with OpenGL as opposed to wine emulation.
Even games running via playonlinux and wine emulation give decent fps and smooth performance like GTA San Andreas and whatnot. But you run into annoying little glitches like sound problems, garbage graphics and occasional stuttering of fps.
