What's the difference between mail.yandex.com and mail.yandex.ru? will I get both @yandex.ru and @yandex.com if I register only on mail.yandex.com?

I registered a @yandex.com email already but I noticed it lets me enter even if I write .ru instead .com in the login form, so I was wondering if I can receive mails on both @yandex.com and @yandex.ru since they seem to be the same.

So I have a PlayStation TV and it has the notorious PSU issue where every once in a while the screen goes black for a second or two. Sometimes it doesn't happen for days of 8h+/day use, and when it does happen, sometimes it's just once and sometimes it's a few times.

Does this seem to be an issue with the capacitors? Or is it something I can't do anything about? Hell I wouldn't mind using an ATX PSU and just tossing it behind the TV if it'll fix it

I need a new laptop.

Not sure whether to pull the trigger and buy a rMBP or just buy a sub-1000€ laptop. I do music production as a hobby and play WoW, but that's about it.

Help me lads.
>>
>>51417629
You can play WoW on pretty much any shitbook so I wouldn't hold any laptop to that standard, but music production wise an rMBP would be nice for CoreAudio alone.

>inb4 hackintosh
Yes, you can run OS X with 3rd party kexts hacked together to make it work on non-Apple hardware, but think about it; does this really sound like a good idea for an operating system you're actually working in?

I'm gonna answer my own question and say no. I found the same item from a different seller for the same price with less of a warranty and the reviews were saying that the drives had already been run for 4+ years non stop and come with a 5 year warranty when new. I'll spend $20 extra per drive and get lower end new ones that come with a 2 year warranty.

I'm just having trouble justifying paying 2000€ for it, otherwise I'd buy it in a heartbeat. I have more than enough saved for it, but I've never spent that much on anything before.

The 13" models are cheaper, but I hate small screens, and considering this will be my main machine for the next year probably then I'd rather go for a 15", which is also more enjoyable for producing music.

Not him, but I feel I should interject here that my hackintosh (running el capitan, fully updated, etc...) has an uptime of 15 days or thereabouts. Even my "proper" Apple rMBP's uptime report is (maybe coincidentally) shorter than that.
>>
>>51418369
My iMac running 10.11 beta sees 30 day uptimes regularly
>>
>>51418377
My point isn't "look at my uptime e-peen", the direction you seem to have gone in, but "my hackintosh has been stable, as illustrated by a ~2-week uptime".

>>51418405
Yes, hackintoshes can be stable. But that doesn't mean it's as stable as vanilla OS X on intended hardware.

Measure the height of the fan (top of the bezel to the bottom of the bezel) - it'll probably be 90mm or 120mm. Just order a good one that's the same size, they're not form factored on desktops. Some good brands are Noctua ($$$) and Cooler Master ($).

Just got one of these, was considering putting W10 on it.

Opinions?

How easy is it to switch back to 8 once I decide 10 is bad?
>>
>>51418419
That may be true in the theoretical sense, but in a practical sense where we weigh the trade-off of stability for the price difference, is that marginal difference sufficient that someone who wants to save maybe 40% on a desktop shouldn't even consider a hackintosh?

I would argue no.

While I agree that hackintoshes on laptops are still so hacky that it wouldn't be viable, if I didn't have a rMBP or a desktop, but knew everything I knew now, and was told to go build a desktop, I would be comfortable buying components according to the Tonyetc... guide and running a hackintosh setup. Sure, I'd be marginally more self-aware regarding backups and stuff, but I wouldn't consider the stability loss (e.g. reasonably expecting 29-day uptimes compared to 30-day) to be enough to justify warning away from it, the way others do.

There's a general sense that hackintoshes are really hacky, and my hunch is that people who say this either
- used hackintoshes back when 10.6 or 10.7 was out, or
- tried to retcon their computer into a hackintosh

if you start out (even just marginally) aware of the compatible hardware when you're buying, hackintosh setups in 2015 are *very* stable.

How to fix micro sd card under linux?
I think mine is corrupted.
When I plug it, Nothing shows up under file manger, but lsusb return the usb micro sd card reader.
And lsblk returns this
NAME MAJ:MIN RM SIZE RO TYPE MOUNTPOINT
sda 8:0 0 465.8G 0 disk
├─sda1 8:1 0 255M 0 part /boot
├─sda2 8:2 0 29.3G 0 part /

├─sda4 8:4 0 1K 0 part
└─sda5 8:5 0 3.8G 0 part [SWAP]
sdb 8:16 1 29.3G 0 disk
sr0 11:0 1 1024M 0 rom

So the sdb is the micros sd card right? Does this means there is a chance in fixing it?

Then you will need to Google for the app, the extension is usually .apk with larger games also coming with /obb folders or files. Obb go into ./android/obb and the .apk can be anywhere, usually the downloads folder so they're easy to find and will install OK if you find the setting in the phone to allow installations from other sources than play store.

Hello!
I moved in a new place and I now own a new ADSL2+ subscription.
It was a up to 20MB contract, the line syncs at 17200 kbps, effective connection is a 14MB. Fine by me, but I'm kind of worried about the packet loss: over 5000 pings, I lose between 1% and 2% of them. Should I fiddle with the settings (I have a DGN2200 with amod firmware) or is this pretty much what should an average line achieve?

Hello /g/

Does anyone have experience of using external graphics processor via Thunderbolt (1 gen)?

As I can see, the bandwith of 10 GBit/s won't bottleneck PCIe 2.0 x16, so it could be possible to use almost any modern graphics card with laptop…

Is there a nice aftermarket box with descent PSU? Or should I simply buy an expansion card and power it with simple ATX PSU?

I do a heavy amount of audio production, and I think that Pro Tools would work significantly better with an Intel processor, plus some of my games are optimized better with Intel.

I even thought about a Xeon, but I don't know if it's worthwhile.

Android-related questions

-I want every picture I take to be uploaded to my cloud as soon as I take it, and much to my pleasant surprise, my Dropbox account is doing the job via the Dropbox app. The problem is that as soon as my phone has low battery it completely stops uploading stuff. I can't find the option to turn it off but if there's another alternative that lets me take pictures and uploads them automatically with no battery restrictions I would like to know them.

Of course I WILL keep my phone at full charge from now on, but there's going to be a point in which I will not have the chance to do it so, and I want to be prepared for that.

-Is there an audio recording app that lets me record in OGG or FLAC?

Any PHP fags that can help?

I want to send a XML with PHP to a server where a PHP script reads it. This is what i got:

 //Sending:
$ch = curl_init();
curl_setopt($ch, CURLOPT_URL, $url);
curl_setopt($ch, CURLOPT_POST, 1);
curl_setopt($ch, CURLOPT_HEADER, 1);
curl_setopt($ch, CURLOPT_RETURNTRANSFER, 1);
curl_setopt($ch, CURLOPT_HTTPHEADER, array('Content-Type: text/xml'));
curl_setopt($ch, CURLOPT_POSTFIELDS, "recXML=".$xml);
$result = curl_exec($ch);
//Receiving:
if(isset($_POST['recXML'])){
$xmlTest = $_POST['recXML'];
}else{
return "NO XML RECEIVED";
}

I always get back: NO XML RECEIVED
tried a dozen variations on the curl, but no results..

question/problem I think /g/ might be able to help me with

today I decided to switch out my SATA cable on my SSD because it kept freezing once every 24 hours or so, just randomly while doing whatever (be it under load or idle). after switching the cable, I noticed the SSD didn't show up in the boot order in BIOS anymore, but it still booted and worked perfectly fine. It showed up under My Computer and works perfectly, im even typing this from the OS installed on the SSD. after a bit of fiddling around I realised that the only disk that the BIOS was picking up was the one plugged into SATA port 1, the others aren't picked up by the BIOS but still work (such as my 1TB Western Digital HDD) under WIndows, and even show up if I force the boot selection window during POST (F11 on my machine). They just will not show up in the BIOS boot order.

my mobo is an MSI H97 Gaming 3. so far i've:

- tried all the other SATA ports
- flashed the BIOS to the latest version available on the MSI website
- changed BACK to the old cable

and the drives that are NOT in SATA1 still wont show up. but they work perfectly, and I am able to boot from them (theoretically, they do not have an OS installed on them), if I force the boot selection option during POST.

so TL;DR: disks show up in boot selection (F11 during post) and in the BIOS under "Hard drive BBS priority") but DO NOT show up under boot order (both the graphical one in the Click Bios 4 that MSI uses or the text one). ONLY the disk that I connect to the SATA1 port shows up.

is this simply a BIOS bug or some shit?

Sorry for this really shitty question, but is there any proxy or method to get past "human verification surveys"?

I need to download something specific which I cannot do because of a "survey" I must fill up. It is not a problem giving away a fake email, but ALL surveys I get request for my mobile number, which doesn't "complete" the survey even if I put my number anyway (It's genuinely from our telecommunications provider, no money or details to lose).

I tried using a certain (XJZ) "survey remover" bookmarklet to remove the survey, but this doesn't work. The supposed download link is generated only after completion.

I tried using a proxy (both web-based and through options), as surveys from other countries only ask for email for completion. But proxies ruin Javascript and Flash stuff that the survey wants.

How to work around this?

my system is still running solid, i'm not going to do another rebuild for at least another year, but I wanted to up my GPU when I replace my power supply.

Shut it down so that you don't rape your hard drive so much. Technically hibernation is also a security risk, because it dumps the RAM to disk.

I've not used hibernation in a long time, and frankly I don't need to when SSDs are so fast anyway.

My windows 8.1 setup is fucking up in multiple ways and sometimes it gets fixed by running things as admin.

Something fucked my admin powers or something because it didn't use to do this.

Any ideas on how to fix?

It's easier to copy something that's already there than to make something new.

Isn't Unix already there, ready to be copied?

Trying to find these USB3 headers on ebay or some other store to mod my case with.
I don't really care if they come on the PCB or not, just that I need 90 degree angled headers.
Did anyone here spot these anywhere? All I can find is straight connectors.

Yeah, and all those Linux distros are mostly open source and easy to pull code from various places. Making a whole OS from scratch is very difficult. Windows is just different because it's been around for a long time, so they have their own proprietary code base to dip into instead.
