Building a PC for a friend
What do you think /g/?
>>51388780
Get a 390 instead of a 970
Does your friend really need an optical drive?
>>51388804
always useful and he needs the sd card reader
>>51388780
1. Get 8GB RAM, no need for more.
2. Get an R9 390 instead of the memecard 969.5
3. Get a better CPU cooler with the savings.
4. Get a higher capacity HDD, too.
5. Fuck off with your meme-reader. There's an SD Card reader on the motherboard.
6. That keyboard is a meme. There's no need for a neon-lit fisherprice plastic mess of a keyboard.
7. Do you need the case fans?
8. Get this PSU:

>assuming op isn't a faggot and is still awake
>>51389869
need 16 GB for vms
thanks for the advice

>2000$ budget
>i5 processor
>outdated & deprecated ram
>outdated & deprecated mobo
>Nvidia GTX 3.5
>750 PSU for just these baby parts
It's ok because you're doing it for free :^)

>outdated & deprecated ram
>outdated & deprecated mobo
Skymeme didn't suddenly make DDR3 worthless. Not to mention that Skylake CPU's are sold out just about everywhere.
>>51388780
>970
>not 980 Ti
>>51391206
implying the cost to performance is better
And the gfx card for my wife's son guy was being laughed at.
This faggot is worse.
>>51391206
>980ti for a shitty 1080p monitor
Not worth it. Well maybe, because it's 144hz so he'd get a lot out of it but still kind of a waste.
>>51391260
Outside of the meme card I don't really see a problem. Amerilards scoffing at the price need to realize just how much more expensive parts are in Canada...this is like a $1000-1200 build in America.
there you go :)
>>51388780
Get a less shit processor
Made some improvements http://pcpartpicker.com/p/X44RdC
>>51391374
THIS IS NOT FUCKING CANADIAN
aus/canfag feels
Also, Fury X>980 Ti
>>51388780
>>51388780
how do you if the parts are compatible?
>>51391456
i didn't knew that it had to be from the canadian pcpartpicker.. i saw only computer with $2000 budget
>>51391449
underrated post
>>51391172
not skymeme you dumbfuck
haswell-e
my god how can you be such a retarded autist
>>51391867
>Haswell-E
>muh ddr4 bandwidth
>muh moar coars
>>51392440
>spending over $1000 fucking dollars USD and not getting more than a quad core
What is this 2009?
>>51392618
You dont need more than 4 cores for gaming you faggot
>>51388780
>gigabyte motherboard = shit
>hyper 212 = meme and shit>>51388780
>corsair ram = way overpriced. What the hell are you thinking dumbass? You can get 16 GB ddr3 for $60 - $70, and decent memory.
>SSD was on sale for $67 a couple says ago, why is it so expensive now?
>nvidia = shit. Get a 290 or 390. 290s are like $250
>psu = overkill, gold efficiency = shit
Overall your paying way more for these parts than what's necessary. Seriously check slickdeals or some shit.
>>51392618
Oh you mean like you genuinely tought that. Oh wow this is worse than I expected.
>>51392677
BF4 is a 2 year old AAA game and it uses more than 4 cores. There are others out there too.
i5's serve a purpose but its not in $1000+ home built PCs.
It's good, remember to use windows and not linux.

Must... make... a... choice...
Hijacking this a bit
My 580 recently died and my HDD is on life support, so I figure it's time to buy a new PC. I've managed to forget almost anything I need to keep in mind, so how does this look? Will be using it for both gaming and some creative suite etc. graphic work.
>>51388780
Don't get that i5, 6600k is like a hundred bucks cheaper. I got sixteen gigs of ddr4 for about a hundred and a mobo for the same so you wouldn't be paying too much for the new chipset either
>>51388780
390 is a better choice unless he needs to run linux. You don't need a 750w psu for that either, 600w will be fine and that is a horrible price for a 970
>>51393404
it's 60$ CAD more
>>51393427
thanks for the advice
